Yesterday we left Rhiannon with my mum and dad for the afternoon and over night....i found out at about 4ish that Rhiannon had been unsettled all afternoon and wouldnt play or smile, she just cried and cried...mum did get her settled eventually.

I told mum that if she didnt settle to ring us and we would go get her....well i rang them at 9pm...after we had got out from the resturant and she had gone to sleep but had been upset all afternoon and early evening.

Its now 8am in the morning...and im sitting here waiting for the washing machine to finish, so we can go to the markets get our fresh veges and then go to mums to get my baby....i miss her so much

its horrible aye. I never rang if kobe stayed overnight because i knew if he was upset in the background i wouldnt be able to relax and would have to go and get him but i knew if anything was wrong my mum would ring me. i also found it worse on the way to get him, at every red light I would be getting really anxious and just wanted to get back to my baby

Awww, that sounds tough.  But good on you for doing it as well - way to go!!  Now you've got that first night apart behind you for good and you never have to do it again - next time I'll bet it's easier (I say, having not been there before... ha ha ha).  But I think a night out with hubby is a great idea, and congrats for getting organised for it, biting the bullet and doing it!  Rhiannon will still adore you just as much!

Well, i feel like a bad mum. I LOVED it when my parents had Jake and I could go out for the night. I diudn't really worry about him at all. we're planning on going out for tea in a couple of weeks, and letting Lewis' cousin babysit (she's 15). Not sure about overnight...well definitely not the cousin, but not sure about parents either.

both my kids are gone for the day, kobe maybe overnight. I didnt erally want them to but kobes wee friend stopped in and asked if he wanted to come to her house to play so he just raced out to the car, no looking back and mum and dad, he was off and my friend who is due in december wanted some practice so asked if she could take addison for a couple of hours (this is a long term friend, more like a sister so no safety issues or anything) still the house seems a bit quiet without my babies

your mum sounds like she didnt want you to worry - and truly what would you have done if she had told you bubs wasnt settled ??? Sounds like your mum did the right thing....good for bubs to learn to settle with strangers (anyone other than YOU!) and for you to be able to take a break.
When I nannied I often lied to parents over the phone and told them the truth when they got home - often over a weekend etc - and they always knew it made them have a more relaxed time and that their kids were safe no matter what - got to point where some parents didnt ring - cross between not wanting to know and knowing I would call them if something bad happened....only ever ended up at an a and e one time in 15 years of babysitting / nannying (older sister pushed baby who hit table and cut her eye)...You know your mum etc would call if bubs wasnt ok....
Im glad you have bubs back now....!!!
