Topic: picture book for toddlers Posted: 24 July 2009 at 8:22pm |
Hi Can anyone recommend a cute picture book for toddlers that tells children about a new baby coming?
Cheers,

Huggies Link
Childrens books
Heres a link to the book club on the Huggies website on the topic, and another link to the Childrens bookshop.
My DH's Uncle gave their daughter the book called "The New Baby" by Mercer Mayer when they were having their second baby, DD1 was about the same age as Ella too.

There's a really cool 'Growing Pains' one we have called Rory's story by Brimax Publishing (doesn't say author). It's about a wee lion who gets a baby sister and hates how mum and dad have to bath the baby instead of playing with him all the time, but then he bonds with his sister and becomes a doting big brother
Don't know if it really 'tells' a toddler anything, but Jack loves it and points to the 'big boy' and the 'baby' and we talk about helping etc.

I made one with pictures of Leah and us, our house, my belly, the midwife, the hospital, grandparents, baby's room etc.....when Joel was born I put a picture of him in at the back saying welcome to the family Joel. Leah loved it and still reads it now but she has always been a lover of pictures of real things instead of drawings iykwim. I just bought a cheap little photo album from the warehouse and did pictures on one side and printed off what each picture was and stuck it on card to make it stronger on the other.
