Not had much ohbaby time of late got so many questions building up.

DS learnt to wiggle his way around about 3 weeks ago, he can now fly along the ground, doing that whole comando crawl.

He only seems to push off with his right leg though? Is that normal?

he pulls along with his arms and pushes with one foot, he does not get up on all fours at all yet. If you stand him up he can hold onto a table or sofa and stay standing but does not pull himself up.

I'm in no rush for him to go further or faster, he gets along so quick just wondering what others babies have done?

Spencer use to crawl like that, he almost looked like he was dragging along one dead leg. I'm not sure how old your DS is but Spencer commando crawled from 8ish months until 13 months then he crawled properly, he started pulling up to stand at 14 month but didn't walk until 18 months. He could stand when we put him standing at around 9 months and he use to walk behind his push along toy at around 15 months.

There was a question about this just recently, I think perhaps from Heidismum? I'll see if I can find it.

But the gist of it, is that it's perfectly normal for them to favour their strong side when commando crawling. Jackson definately did it, it was hilarious. It used to cause him to crawl ever so slightly on a diaganol too, which frustrated him no end. He's now crawling completely normally on hands and knees, and man is he fast!

Can't wait to see you Fi!

It was from me! Ava is crawling exactly like that at the moment. She is 11 months old. She'll occasionally get up on all 4's but not really alot.

a friends wee boy was a commando kid and was not interested in regular crawling until they spent a week at his Grandparents house - he decided that it was too hard to drag himself on the carpet (they had wood floors at home) and so figured out that the regular was much easier .

Interesting, Finley is 9.5 months old, he goes so fast on carpet in this way, he gets carpet burns!!!! So i'm hoping he picks himself up

Arianne first stared out doing that, she is now getting the hang of using her hands and not her elbows.

It's all learning he will start to use the other leg once he has mastered the one he is using.

Lil miss commando crawled from 6 mths until she walked at 10 mths, she could get up on all fours and would crawl periodically but preferred the commando style coz it was faster - man she was fast!
