Topic: Prams Posted: 17 September 2006 at 1:58pm |
I am just after some advice. dh and I went looking at prams today and we were kind of set on a 4 wheel as baby can lie flat and we wanted a reversiable handle so you can see baby when you are out walking when they are younger especially.
Well there was only one that was vaguely suitable, the bertini one but was too hard to manuvour and we weren't that keen on the actual wheels.
So we then had a look at the phil and teds one, which we will possibly go with, but really what I am wondering is if anyone knows of other 4 wheelers with reversiable handles.
We were reallly keen on the phil and teds as it did all we really wanted it to do, and was so much lighter then others, but would still like to consider the 4 wheel option

Don't know much about the prams, but one piece of advice i'll give you is make sure that it can sit upright as well. I really want to get another pram as Andrew can't sit up properly in the one we have (it doesn't have an upright position) - something we over looked.

And be sure you can get stuff in and out of the carry basket even with the stroller fully reclined...

when we were looking at prams for jack before he was born we wanted the same as you....4-wheel and reversible handle. the only one i found were the bertini ones, which i found hard to move around and too big, and the one we bought, which was a babywise one i think but unfortunately had plastic wheels.
we ended up re-selling that one and getting a 3-wheeler with the rubber tyres as it was easier to move.
so, what i'm trying to say is if you can find a 4-wheel, reverse handle pram, try to get one with rubber (pump up) tyres as the plastic ones are horrible on stones etc

Oh but another thing is that most of the ones that don't have a reversible handle have a viewing canopy in teh hood so you can still see bubs even tho they have their back to you.

We were looking for the same but could not find any so ended up getting a Valco Rebel pushchair that has 3 wheels (rubber pump up tyres) and the whole seat lifts out and turns around so at the mo we have piper facing us and when shes older we can face her the other way

We spent ages looking at prams. We ended up with a Hauck Infinity Stroller from the Baby Factory with a basinette. Its not a reverse handle, the seat reverses, but it does the same thing. Its got two pump up back wheels and plastic front ones. Our baby is yet to arrive so we haven't had a chance to test it out yet! Its also the Esprit at Farmers and the Rock Star Baby Stroller in the US (endorsed by Jon Bonjovi - now you can't beat that!). The Bugaboo is the ultimate 4 wheel stroller, its the Swiss Army Knife of Prams, we loved it but alas couldn't justify the $1800. Check out http://strollersandprams.com/ for really good reviews.

if you can';t find one with the handle - tyr putting a baby mirror on it aimed at you. Then they can see your face and you can check on them ,and when they get bigger, the baby in the mirror will amuse them for ages.

well after much thought and comtemplating yesterday, I still can't make up my mind. I am now on the track of thinking I will bite the bullet and get the 4 wheel one we want, as there are things with the Phil and Teds that on further thought I don't like that much. Who would have thought a decision about a pram would be so hard.

I had a similar problem. I made my short list of the items that I was looking for in a pram/buggy, and then went out and tried to find a pram which met all my requirements. It was jolly hard to find one that matched my demands!
I think you need to stick with your goals, and keep searching till you find one your happy with. Easier said than done, but hopefully something will come up

well just an update, we went back to look again, and I had decided that we would get the bertini, that was until we tried to fold it down, I can't do it! so we spent a lot of time on the phil and teds and playing with it and we have decided to get that one

Did anyone else see the article in last weeks Womans Day (I bought it for the Steve Irwin pics for Maya ) about the lady whose Phil and Teds pram saved her kids lives when a wheel flew off a car and hit them in the pram?
I thought of Janine the minute I saw it lol....

They have this one on Ebay called a Jeep Infinity- its just like the Bugaboo but about half the price. We are going to get it as a travel system with the cot bit, pram bit, carseat and all the accesories and all together its about $900.

We've got a Phil & Ted E3. It's pretty light, really easy to manuvour (sp!) and you can un-clip/un-zip it all so it is flat for a newborn - as baby gets older, you zip/clip things up until it is a seat. It comes with a clear plastic 'window' at the back so you can check on baby too. We got ours off winkalotts - a lot cheaper than paying retail!
