Hi
I'm new here :) Have been browsing for a few months on the TTC forum but just found out I'm Pg. 4 weeks, so v. early. My husband obviusly knows but it's hard not telling anyone else for another couple of months.
The doctor was telling me about midwives but didn't ask her how early to contact them. Does anyone have a good midwife in Wellington area?

Congratulations! I'm not in Welly, but I know there is a shortage of MWs there, so I would get onto it today! Its never too early to make contact

Congrats  I'm in Welly, but had an obstetrician so can't help you with midwives. I did ring a few when I was 4 weeks preggy but no luck, so yup get onto it today!! Good luck finding someone and hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy

Were abouts in Wellington are you. The earliest you ring the better. I have the same mw as last time and she is brilliant. Her name is Noreen Jewel and she works out of Marsden Village in Karori she does the NOrthern suburbs and city.

Ya, I want to tell everyone, but don't want to jinx anything. Only 2 more months or less until I can though :) will just have to keep myself busy.
It's hard though with the food especially. Just went out for a walk at lunchtime with workmates and there was a food tester guy giving away soft cheeses so I kinda just moved away and looked at something else while my workmate tried it! lol. Don't want to have to make excuses.

If you are in J'ville i recommend calling Birth Options cos my MW Victoria works from Johnsonville and she is fantastic.

I'm in Jville too, my midwife s name is Rachel, and she is based opposite the McDonalds, right next door to the pharmacy across the road, upstairs on level one, same as the chinese acupunture place :) there was another mw there who I would NOT recommend you go to, my friend went to her for a few weeks and shes a meanie, shes had heaps of complaints about her as far as I know, I'll find out her name for you, i just forgot at the moment, NAPPY BRAIN!

I'm in Churton Park, so kind of in J'ville.
I am with Birth Options and my midwife is: Victoria Panteleeva. She's great.
Oh also, if you ever want to meet up with other Welly pregnant women off this site, check out the 'meet up' forums.

Thanks girls. I called Noreen Jewel last week but she hasn't got back to me so tried Victoria when I got home from work. She called back a couple of hours later and was great. Also got a call from birth options to check Victoria had run and that everything was ok so really happy with them as you don't want to wait anxiously for the midwife to call back later on!

Welcome to OB and congrats on your pregnancy!! I am near Jville (Ngaio) and see you have found a MW so wont recommend mine (Margaret from Karori..) Do check out the meet up threads, there is one on Sunday at Dennys in Porirua if your keen?

Mine is Michelle Vincent from Ngaio Med Centre shes really great! Her backup is a midwife who works in the Jville Med Centre called Rachel McTavish.

Yeah I was lucky to get her coz she's going on holiday in Jan too but then turns out I'm due end of feb so yeah, I wanted another lady who had been doing it for 20+ years but she only wanted people she'd had before
