Okay, I really don't understand about all of these reusable nappies?

I'm looking at purchasing a couple of the reusable nappies that you put the inserts in yourself.

I have a few questions about them though:

What happens when you change baby, do you change the WHOLE nappy like you do a disposable, or just the insert? (probably a dumb question, but like i said, i know absolutely nothing about these haha)

Do you need to use nappy liners in them??? If you don't have to use them but you yourself do use them, what is the purpose?

How many inserts do you go through a day and night?

And, if you do change the whole nappy, how many nappies do you go through a day/night?

Thanks!!

Hehe I can give you an example with the brand I have & love Itti Bitti

I have 5 All in ones, 5 Snap in Ones & 5 extra Inserts. have a look on the website so you see what I'm talking about.

The All in ones if he wees I just pop in the nappy bucket till washing time. If he pooh's I hope like hell that it's a rolling off one then I just tip into the toilet & put the nappy in the bucket. If it's not rolling off I usually use toilet paper or the disposable (washed & reused) wipe to wipe off as much as I can.

With the Snap in One. If he's just wee'd I just snap off the insert & put on another one & reuse the outer cover. Poo as above, If it's an iccy pooh then I usually have to put the cover & the inserts in the nappy bucket.

Usually Nappy liners are to prevent nappy rash or for ease of pooh removal.

I think I go through around 6-8 a day? depending on the day?

Also when I go to wash if we've had no pooh then I just do a normal wash & extra rinse at the end. If we have poohs I do a separate rinse cycle & then do the wash & extra rinse. I have a front loader so can't raise water levels.

Hope that helps a little bit?
Kel

I use pocket nappies (the ones you stuff inserts into)

What happens when you change baby, do you change the WHOLE nappy like you do a disposable, or just the insert? Yep you change the whole nappy at each change

Do you need to use nappy liners in them??? If you don't have to use them but you yourself do use them, what is the purpose? You don't have to use liners but it does make things alot easier and it helps keep the nappy in good codition when using creams, i used reusable liners but you can get one you just flush away.

How many inserts do you go through a day and night?I use 4 pocket a day and 8 inserts, for night i have a night pocket and it had 2 inserts but they are big super absorbant (sp) ones.

And, if you do change the whole nappy, how many nappies do you go through a day/night?we go through 5 in 24hours most days and we have been fully cloth since Tessa was 2 months or 8 weeks, but we do have a few extra for "just in case"
