Topic: Poss. tattoo design !! Posted: 23 October 2006 at 5:54pm |
I know I've often talked about body art and piercings before, as I am no stranger to either - but I guess this is a bit more particular because I am starting to put some more serious thought into having something done to represent Erin. This is what I've come up with so far, I am going to try and find some time this week to go all the way into town and have a chat with my tattooist (wouldn't go to anyone else if I could help it!). Anyway, here it is !
At this stage I'm thinking of putting it on my right arm but high up - almost on the shoulder (level with my armpit).

I didn't draw it exactly, but I used Photoshop to put it together - I did a search on the internet to find the type of writing that I wanted, and added the butterfly myself.

Very cool, just one little observation, the A is a lot more detailed than the E, with that being her first letter I would have thought that would be the same detail, if that all makes sense. Your eye is more drawn to the A. i think it rocks but was just thinking seeing as its going to be so permanent you might like an outside opinion.
Im saving my pennies to go and get mine done, hoping to have it by xmas but its going to be expensive i think

I LOVE the 'A'! Agreed that the 'E' needs a bit more curly bits. Otherwise, it's very sweet Personally, I would probably tend to get just the name and butterfly. Would hate for someone to misinterpret the date as an anniversary of something else if ya get my drift...
I'm too scared of needles to get a tattoo although I've dreamed about them since I was a teenager (I mean, heck... I've had a c-section, you'd think I wouldn't be scared of a tattoo! The mind is a crazy thing...)

Good point about the detail on the letters ladies, I could probably just get the tattooist to modify it so it's more 'balanced' IYKWIM. As for the date thing... hmmm *scratches head* I hadn't really thought of it being able to be misinterpreted, but without a date - could be a lot of explaining each time someone asks about it ? I dunno, I'm definitely not racing out to get it yet, and will do a bit more tweaking.

I was just wondering why you chose a butterfly? Would you consider a bird - as she is obviously a Bird, it might be a nice fit with the Christian and middle name.
I think it is a lovely idea.

I love it Jax, but agree that the "E" could do with a bit more detail to match the "A". I believe that butterfly's symbolise new life/ new beginnings, so I feel that having that in the design explains that the date is her birthday.

I've got Maya's date of birth on mine and people tend to get that it's her birthday.

I like it!! I agree that a little more detail on the E would be good.
I really like the butterfly...it seems to fit especially as butterflies have been a bit of a theme...thinking of her loverly hand painted bedroom door.

Roskana they really arent as painful as people think. I would rather get a tattoo than go to the dentist thats for sure. Plus you can put emla cream on first to numb the area, i did that for the one on my spine cos someone told me that was the worst place for pain and i didnt even feel it.
Jax when are you going to get it done? Who do you go to up there?

I'm not sure when I'm going to get it done, whether it will be before our trip to Aussie or after - and I have my work done by a lady called Rose Hardy who works at Illicit HQ on K'Rd in downtown Akl.

what about on your lower spine or the area below your belly button (to many stretch marks there for me to get one done lol) I have one on my spine and one to the side just above my butt check so my next will be on the otherside but i do like the sound of one at the very top of my shoulder like you are thinking Jax. I wanted to get one on the inside of my wrist, my sil has the chinese character for angel there and I love it but Im worried that its in to much of an obvious place.

I have no idea where I am going to put the twins. I have Maya's handprint on my right arm, a chinese character on the left, and other tattoos on one ankle, my left shoulder blade and my right boob. So I'm kind of running out of space... I want to get handprints for the twins as well.
