I was just wondering if it is possible to set up a medical question section - you know for times when you just want to ask a question which is NOT life or death - cause lets face it your dr should be the one to ask questions to or health line - but theres times you just wanna ask is this ok etc....

Dunno if anyone else agrees or not but if you do please leave an agreed comment so the powers that be will see it

I remember someone suggesting this last year... most seemed to like the idea but there isnt one yet so I guess either it was missed or OB decided against it.. I guess there could be consequences if someone took mis-advice from here....

I like this idea, would be helpful to lots of women, they would probably need to get a doctor to answer the questions which may cost them a bit tho.

I have to say that although I like the idea, I don't know how well it would work... I like being able to ask in the general/babies threads etc. because their is a lot of "traffic" and the chances of someone seeing your post that has been through the same thing are higher.

Personally I probably wouldn't go looking in a medical thread unless my child was sick and I wanted to ask something, therefore I probably wouldn't see other people's posts to offer any advice/support.

Plus they would probably need a medical professional to admin the section.

But I like the idea in theory

I know why it hasn't happened in the past when we have asked for it. But Emma maybe able to shed some light on what happened at the meetings when asked about it.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I would guess that having a dedicated section could open OB up to a whole lot of liabilities.

I often ask for advice about med things, but always take it for that.

If you have a medical advice part you need trained medical people to oversee it, as someone will get the wrong advice & follow it & people out there will give advise they will not be of any help & may endanger someone.

The come back on OB would be huge, so don't think they would touch it with a 10 foot pole on advice from their legal team.

I think if people have medical concerns they need to see a health professionals or phone healthline - you just need to google to see how much incorrect info is provided as "advice" by non medical people.... it's a bit scary really!

ok i did mention above if it was seriuos then you need to use your medical professional - this section i suggest is NOT to get professional help its to voice your concerns - IE: My son had the runs on and off for 2 months is this normal?

Thing is we do ask these questions anyhow just have a thread for it - just like a pregnancy one - where if we ask a pregnancy question we don't have a resident midwife/ob answering our questions we have parents or people who been there done that. Thats all!

Completely understand peoples veiws just sounded like people took my suggestion the wrong way. I didn;t suggest a professional advise thread 9and by the way Ohbaby do have professionals to answer your questions) I wanted parents to discuss things.
