Topic: Slow rising HCG Posted: 27 November 2009 at 3:56pm |
I have been a lurker for a few years and have only ocasionally posted. We have been ttc for 2.5 years and are on our secound IVF cycle. Our first cycle we had a BFP then m/c at 5 weeks. On Monday this week we had a 2nd BFP HCG 112. Ive been feeling really positive up until today when the next HCG is only 214. I am shocked and feeling really deflated. The clinic said try not to worry and booked another test for next Friday. I should be used to playing the waiting game but this time I'm not coping well. Any suggestions or stories of inspiration would be much appreaciated.

They told me they should double every 2-3 days so you're not far out from that. Mine only rose slowly and only really doubled around the 3-4 day range. I know it's hard not to stress but it doesn't sound like anything to worry about as far as I can see. Hang in there and good luck!

My first HCG with my DD2 was 33, then 74, and I forget what the third reading was. In short, low HCG doesn't always mean a failed or about to fail pregnancy, my gorgeous thriving 4mo is a testament to that.

I am a slow to rise and fast to fall mumma and seem to carry fine. They are rising which is definitely the important factor - you're doing well, keep up the positive thoughts.

Thanks for all your responses. After a rough night I feel so much better after reading your replies. Its going to be a hard few days waiting to see how this turns out. I guess that is all part of the journey and there are many many folk on this site that know what that feels like. My next blood test is not until Friday.

Max my levels were very low also but now they are 76000+. I have my first scan on Friday so am hoping for the best. I got really down about my levels, I guess I'm just trying to say try and stay positive. Please let us know how your next hcg levels are going.
My levels now are still increasing but not doubling

Update....
Well levels kept rising and got to 15000 the following week and the nurses were pleased. Yesterday I had a scan. The heart beat is really good but the bub is measuring only 6 wks 4 days. The doctor didn't really know what to tell me which really worried me. I have the next scan next week. Doctor has suggested I have heaps of rest and see how things go. I would love to hear your ideas and stories or suggestions. I have booked a midwife with Domino in Wellington. Anyone used these midwives?

There is a heartbeat, which is great!! Is there a possibility that you could have ovulated late?

Hi ladies, I am joining in here too... On Wed my levels were 115, today they are 169. Both tests done at 8am. Repromed said they don't hold up any hopes as things aren't progressing well. Monday will tell, back for another blood.
I am so distraught but trying to put on a brave face at work. This is pg #4 and we still haven't got a bubs. This was a natural conception too so at least that's 'something'.

I've got everything crossed for you Maebee that on Monday your levels have risen significantly. The journey for some of us ladies is not an easy path and I know yours has not been. I've had a very draining two weeks with my hcgs not doing much and they have finally ruled out an eptopic this afternoon. I now just have the wait of miscarrying for my third time. I never actually ventured into the due August thread as the likely hood of my pregancy developing was slim.
Like you say the fact that you've got pregnant on your own this cycle is huge, and if not this pregancy then fx for a sticky bub next time.
Sending you lots of hugs

Yeah I know, fx it happens sooner than later now . I've really got al fx that your levels are going to rise, sometimes the doctors put to much emphasis on the 48 hour rise thing, and you have got a very strong number for how early along you are. I've read that 15% of pregnancies don't double in 48 hours and can start off low. I think a few of the other ladies have mentioned that they have had low levels that didn't double in the norm and went on to have successful pregnancies. GL hun
