Topic: Pregnancy Photo Shoot :S Posted: 27 November 2009 at 10:33am |
Hey ladies
So my lovely lovely friends all went in and got DP and I a voucher for a pregnancy/newborn photoshoot. I have called the photographer and she is coming to my house to do the shoot on Sunday....
Problem is I had a huge meltdown yesterday because I am absolutely freaked out about having this shoot. A lot of you will know I am a "big" girl, and last night when thinking about the shoot I totally freaked out and wasn't even sure I wanted to do it. What Im hoping for is some ideas on how to make myself feel more relaxed about doing this. I'm really thinking that I will just do the whole shoot fully clothed because my belly has a bit of a droop to it and is also absolutely covered in stretch marks and this is what has got me so freaked out about it. I just don't know how I can look as "beautiful" as all these other ladies who have the shoots done with their perfect bellies.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me maybe have a few shots that do show the bare belly? If not how can I make the shoot not "boring" while wearing clothes....
Thanks so much in advance, I look forward to your responses!

You are gorgeous! And i bet the photographer has seen a whole lot worse. They should know how to make you feel comfortable and get the best shot. Maybe you could do one of those sheet sort of ones, with it wrapped around the bits you arent fond of and show of the bits you do like.

I was about 95kg when DH took some preggy shots of me at about 35 weeks. I had stretch marks galore but they came out really good. I put my hands on my belly for some of them to hide the stretch marks. You can also photoshop them out if you really hate them

I've always been a bit of a podge but I look at it as this is the one time in my life I'm *allowed* to have a big fat tummy, and I have to admit I'm quite liking it.
DH and I did some home pregnancy photos on the weekend, and I have to admit to begin with I felt really nervous and silly. But DH kept complimenting me, and I started looking at my belly and thinking about the baby that is in it, and I relaxed a whole lot. Cos even though my tummy isn't perfect, its got my perfect little baby in it, so its beautiful all the same, you know? The photographer should be good at putting you at ease. And remember, you only have to show them to people you want to see them. Some of my less-dressed ones won't be going beyond DH and I.
Do you have a pair of pants with a bellyband waistband thingy? You could wear those and have them pulled up over the bottom of the bump if thats the bit you don't like? Strategic placement of your hands over the stretchmarks? The photographer can photoshop those out if you want... although I seem to recall that your DP likes tigers
DH tried to show me some photos part way through, and I refused, cos I didn't want to see them and think I looked silly or I wouldn't do any more. So instead he went through them at the end and showed me a collection of really cute ones. I'm really glad that I did them in the end!
Enjoy it Bex. You'll look back on them and smile one day.

Bex - I was once 108 kgs, so add those stretch marks to the ones I got during pg and I have stretch marks upon stretch marks!
I wore a skirt will a belly band, so it kind of hid the bottom part of my bump, but still showed the form .. here are a couple for you to see what I mean.
There was no way in hell you were getting me any more naked than that

Definitely makes me feel a bit more relaxed about it all, also with everyones lovely words of encouragement! Still nervous but hopefully it will all look okay in the end, if not they can always be photos for me and DP only to enjoy

my partner really wanted us to pregnancy portraits and i was too self concious to get them done.. the photographers know all the flattering poses, I have hideous stretchmarks and was even going to get some stage make up to cover them, we didn't get them done in the end... and guess what, yep now I wish I had of
Go for it! im sure they will look beautiful!!

Go Bex! That will be so lovely to have, and like the other ladies have said, the photographer will know how to make you feel good. Plus you can always use your hands to pull things about/up/around if you know what I mean.
Have fun!!!

Bex - did you see my pics that were done the other day? Remember i too have that pooch down the bottom and i made it clear that i didnt want that in the pic along with wanting the angles so my arms didnt look so fat as that is the area i tend to put alot of my weight on etc.
photographers do it properly with the lighting etc theyre my heros cos she made me look great (in my opinion) and i love lookin at those pics (and they havent even had any editing done to them yet) and am proud of my tummy, I am so glad and you will be too that i got them done so i can feel proud about my journey through pregnancy...........and remember I was told my a nasty person that I had an ugly bump, yet that wasnt going to stop me from finding a way to really enjoy my bump............the photos i got are me and all me, but just done in a way that its focused on the good bits.
And go the photoshop, bye bye all those stretch marks.......you will barely recognise your own belly once they are done, but it will still be YOUR belly and one that you will be proud to show people
Good luck on Sunday and I hope you will be putting pics up on here so we can all say "told ya so" hehehe

This photographer supplied all the material for the top and bottoms in these shoots etc

I got some preggy photos taken when i was preggy with the twins so I was rather large and covered in stretch marks but i did the photos fully nude and they look awesome! you can't see the stretch marks and i got them printed in black and white which i think makes anything look better!
But whatever you decide to do they will look great!

a friend of mine had some amazing preggie shots taken, and they were not close up or showing any flesh! She's tiny but got lots of stretch marks.
I wish I could show you a picture, but obviously I can't, lol!
She got hers taken on the beach, she wore a black singlet and then had a HUGE piece of bright red flowey material wrapped around her so it looked like a skirt, she kinda posed with her hands on her bump and the wind blew the 'skirt' out to one side, and made the fantastic shot.
photogrpahers can do great things, that particular photos was in black and white but the photographer made the skirt coloured and it looked awesome. Then she had some others done in colour and some more in black and white.
