Topic: Gifts for hubby Posted: 07 December 2009 at 11:26am |
So I know this has probably been done before, but any ideas for gifts for the blokes this Christmas. I used up all my goodies on Fathers Day and a birthday last month.
There's nothing he really needs...And we've done photos of DS.
Help!

I got DF a radar detector for xmas... LOL not the most romantic gift I know, but its something I know he will like and will get a lot of use (he drives a LOT for work... as in all over Southland, literally.. Can do all 4 corners in one day!)
And also got him a "pretty" thing for our new house.. A ornament thing for our china cabinet. Yes its useless, but I know he'll like it...
I was considering getting him all the star trek / wars / whatever thingys on DVD... But I get them all confused and not sure what one it was he actually wanted.
Also in his santa sack he will be getting a new toothbrush, some hair goop, some deodorant, a few lollies/oranges or something, a photo album/brag book thing empty for him to fill up and take to work hehe, maybe a book he likes, and possibly a memory card for the camera
Hope that helps...

I bought DH a new fishing rod - figured it would be handy as we live on the coast and have heard rumors of lots of Snapper running recently - yum! (so really a self-motivated gift haha!). I also put together a wedding photo album as we have been married for a year and have never bothered getting any prints done.
Plus im giving him a baby :-)
ETA Hunnybunny - lol about starwars stuff - I HATE it, slept right through the last one he forced me to watch. But when we first got together i gave him a light sabre - figured it was about the only thing he didn't have!

Oh, and I got the radar detector off... 3deals.co.nz I think it was (I think its also been in firstin.co.nz if you keep a eye on them) for $100. All up I'm spending $150-$200 depending on how much his smellies etc cost

I got DH a big bucket of all sorts licorice cause he loves it but rarely ever gets it.
Haven't quite decided on the rest cause we are on a budget. He wants a special pair of headphones which cost like $70 I think not, $70 on headphones is stupid lol

We only spend $50 on each other so it can be quite hard usually. DH is getting a hammer, a car charger for his phone and some choccies. Exciting huh

Some might think we're boring, but DH and I don't bother getting each other a present for Christmas - it's been like that for a few years now since we agreed on it. It's just easier that way and you don't feel obligated to buy them something because if there's something he or I want or need, we just buy it anyway rather than wait and hope the other buys it at Christmas time. Instead we just focus on birthdays and (now) father's/mother's day.

I got DH a newspaper subscription. I'm not sure what else he'll be getting - I'll be watching this thread though!

we don't do much for Christmas presents for each other either. It's normally just a book or a dvd or something.
I think I am going to ask for a new pair of Haivianas as I have worn my current ones to death. He will get a book about sheep rearing or something as that is his new project!

I just bid on a bluetooth handsfree speaker set on TM for DP for xmas... $50... but its cheaper than the fine he managed to get 3 days after the new law became official! Will pay for it tomorrow and hopefully turns up by the weekend, hes going away so gives me time to wrap and hide it from where he might see it lol!

My DH has a new iphone, his new baby, ha ha, when we were out shopping we saw a place that sold funky skins for them for $30 so might get him one.
Other than that we decided not to exchange pressies this year as we are getting the Wii as a family pressie & still want some stuff for the kids.

This year with baby being due 2 days after xmas, we have a limit each of $20. We worked out we weren't gunna get much exciting for that so came up with the idea we would each goto the $2 shop and spend $20 on 10 presents each, they are just gunna be a bit of fun plus makes our Xmas tree look nice and full!!! LOL

As per his request, I got my DP a mortar and pestle however I'm guessing that might not be high on most men's wish lists.
For surprises I also got him, a digtal photo frame, a massager, and a fondue set. I might get him one more thing... not sure what yet.
I really wanted to get him a Wii but much as I love DP, I couldn't part with the $$$.

ha ha, I want the Wii fit, which we will get in the new year so that was my way around it, still don't want to spend the money though
Bex I think your idea is fab, I love the xmas tree up & think to me that just makes xmas& the kids are really excited with it.
