Topic: Donations for kiddies Posted: 02 January 2010 at 6:22pm |
Hi ladies -
6 weeks before Christmas my Aunt started an inner city playgroup for needy kids with capacity for 15 kiddies. Well they now have 56, have got bigger premises through a Church and are applying for funding but this could take a few months and in the meantime my Aunt is taking in rolls of paper towels for them to draw on as they have NOTHING.
So I thought I'd appeal to you for a cleanout and instead of throwing things away how about sending to me for the group?
Things that would be HUGELY appreciated include...
- Greeting card covers (including Christmas cards) / wrapping paper / ribbon & ties / gift bags
- Tinsel and old christmas tree ornaments
- Glitter, non toxic paints & brushes
- Ice cream containers / egg cartons / coloured milk or juice bottle lids / biscuit trays (for putting paint in)or anything that can be cleaned and used in crafts
- General (not broken) toys
- Cookie shape cutters / measuring cups / measuring spoons etc for water & sand play
I can't thank you enough for reading this far! If you have anything at all please PM me or reply to this post and I will send you my address, or if you're in Auckland I will pick up.
Thanks ladies!

I have a whole lot of formula tins you can have if they're useful - I was just about to biff them - Good for making 'posting' boxes and storage.

I have lots of empty yoghurt containers and toilet rolls and all sorts of other stuff too that I can get together over the next couple of weeks when I do my spring clean out. I am in West Auckland.

I don't think schools and kindies are allowed to use toilet rolls for arts & crafts anymore? Crazy huh! Oooh keep those ideas coming though, thanks again!!!

We usually get all that kind of stuff together for Issys daycare, but they have enough for now .. so if you want, I can put it all together for you
(im in West Auckland, but I work in Parnell if its easier for you - I can also go through all the stuff at work we have a LOAD of paper that we could get rid of)

Oh yeah contact BJ Ball papers in Mt Wellington.
Someone gave me their name and said they got free paper from them. Not sure if they still exist or not but might be well worth a try. My contact said she went there a few years back and they brought out a forklift truck full and told her to take as much as she wanted.

I can't donate I'm sorry but if you are near a Warehouse, they have 75% off most Christmas decorations/wrapping paper etc (today is the last day). A lot of the packs of decorations/tinsel/wrapping paper are under $1 each, so it might be worth going to have a look???
