Hi,
We are heading camping in a couple of weeks and I am just in the process of making a list of all the things we need to take.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas on camping with a 7 month old?

My list is already a mile long but I'm still worried I'm going to forget something, lol.

Any advise would be great

Thanks

I just took Keira for 2 days, she was VERY hard to settle to sleep cos of the noise, (we went just after xmas and before new years!) and being in a different bed (port a cot).. I overpacked for her though everything to summer clothes, winter clothes, bouncer, baby food, her toys, sunscreen, hat, blankets to lie on under the trees and a chilly bin to use as her bath.. a mossie net in case?

We took Hollie on her first overnight trip recently and she loved it! She slept wonderfully, despite the drunks around the tent at 2am lol. Best thing we took was the chilli bin - doubled as a bath/paddling pool for her to muck around in as its harder to keep them cool in the tent
Oh and if your tent is 1 room, and your portacot has mesh sides, take extra rugs so the baby won't see you and scream

We took Lily before Xmas and I was the same as Jolene.....took nearly EVERYTHING. I even took her bath....but the chilly bin is a great idea. (and I took her Jolly Jumper....don't know where I thought I was going to hang it LOL )

We have a Phil n Teds portacot which was great as it has part mesh sides and a mesh top which can be zipped on so no mozzies can get in. Also during the day we could take it outside under a tree (the legs can be pegged into the ground so it can't tip over)

We didn't have any sleeping problems but there were only another two or three tents there so was pretty quiet.

We just took Ruby camping. We found it got really cold at night and she wouldnt sleep in her portacot.
She doesnt like keeping the blankets on. She slept in her pram with the hood up and the foot muff and she was quite happy.

We also had a tiny wee blow up pool that we bathed her in as it was warm outside and way easier than going down to the showers

My boy loves camping. We bath him in a bucket while camping. so you may want to take a bucket.
Just think of what you need at home and what you could do without using from home and then you should be fine.

We just got back from a camping trip, it went really well! I didn't pack too much for Chelsea. Just a few toys, portacot, baby bath and clothes (I even forgot her socks and shoes LOL oops, luckily she didn't need them). Oh and sheets and a woollen blanket. She slept just as well as she does at home (ie waking up twice a night) so no dramas there

Awesome, thanks guys. The main part I'm worried about is her day sleeps and there will be other kids around and she normally wakes to load noises (like kids squelling), also worried about the heat in the tent for her day sleeps too. Hopefully she'll be ok tho.
I've made a massive long list so I'm pretty sure I'll end up taking far too much stuff, lol.
The chilly bin idea is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that (saves me trying to think of what to take as a bath as we've sold her baby bath now).

Just strip her down to a nappy for day sleeps. We have just got back from 10 days freedom camping and that's what we did.

Take a picnic rug to put her on and lots of wee toys that you can clip onto things (like your camp chair). Ava loved the trees so she ended up lying under them a lot and watching the leaves move.

Honestly, if you have amenities, you'll be fine. We have no running water, no toilets (we take them with us) and no barrier between us and the river (our tent peg actually goes into the river bank) and despite Ava waking more, as it was a lot lighter and colder at night, both kids did well. (We even took the exersaucer for her as she needs to be upright - felt like a real nob this year!)

Thanks emz. Our trip will have running cold water & a toilet block & my partners parents (who we are going with) take a shower tent & have a generater to hook up to power when we need it.
I will be taking the exersaucer too as Jessica loves it, and she loves to be upright too
I'm looking forward to it & excited about going (especially as we get closer to it), just worried Jessica won't sleep and will be grumpy, or that I'll forget something we need. If worst comes to worst we'll put her in the car and go for a drive as she always sleeps in the car.

I took Caleb camping for the first time when he was 8 months old but only for a weekend. He was on solids, still BF and not crawling (started crawling the night we got home). I took a portacot, heaps of extra blankets, his buggy, a picnic blanket with a few toys, nappies and wipes, jars of baby food then supplemented with sandwhiches, fruit etc that we were having. I didn't bother bathing him, just topped and tailed.

I packed too many clothes but better too much than not enough. The only mistake I made was taking baby food he had not tried before as he didn't like it so ended up living off sandwhiches, bananas and muesli bars. A polar fleece sleeping sack with a few layers underneath it was absolutely essential as it did get cold overnight.
