As you call may have figured out... my diagnostic skills are absolutely spot on... NOT.

Anyway, Hannah has been sleeping terribly... worse than usual (which is near bloody impossible) and has been getting really upset. I thought it was just because I was trying to get her to sleep in her own bed... but then this morning I noticed one of her ears was full of "stuff" and when I tried to clean it she got quite pissed off as if it really hurt her. (So yeah, more pissed off than usual when I try and shove a tissue in her ear to clean it out)

So then I started thinking... ear infection. Does that sound right?!?

And to risk sounding like a terrible mother... should I take her to the doctor immediately? After hours costs about $50 and I just don't have that money lying around. I can get it of course, but if it isn't urgent then I will wait until first thing Monday morning. I hate these dilemmas! I always feel so guilty for not seeking help straight away for my little toddly. Maybe I should ring healthline... ?

HELP!

Um if she has stuff coming out then yes I would be inclinded to say ear infection. Having a 2 year old that has them all the time they aren't nice. If she is pulling on her ear then that is another sign of an ear infection. Best to get it cleared now.

Sounds like ear infection to me too. You should get her some antibiotics (yep via the Docs) before it creates worse problems for ya. Yep it sure will affect her sleep, it will be more comfy for her to lie on her tummy or anything not quite flat.

Some kids get high temps when they are sick, but it is apparently just as common to get low temps - which is what my kids get. But I don't think my girls had temperatures with their recent infections.

Anyway I came back on here cause I remembered something. The best thing Hannah can do to relieve her own symptoms is to blow her nose. I hear you laugh already, but if you can possibly teach her to blow (instead of sniff!) it will help ease the discomfort/pain.

Nikki I would still take her to the dr at least tomorrow then. If she has an ear infection it is best to get the anitboitics for it. Having a child that had them very often they can lead to hearing loss, which he had for a bit before he got his grommets.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely taking her to the doctor. Just whether it is in the next hour or tomorrow. But I think she'll be fine until the morning and the receptionist is really good at giving babies priority appointments.

That's good, give her some Pamol before bed tonight, it will help her settle. When Briona got ear infection she was prescribed a pain reliever as well as antibiotics.
