I took Janaya to ED last night because she was crying with abdominal pain. We were there till 2am this morning, got told she had a urinary tract infection and that she would be best at home in her own bed.

So she's at home and has been crying and sobbing non-stop since she woke. Banging her foot and throwing her fists against the couch to help cope with the pain I just feel so sorry for her and I don't know what else to do for her..

I've called Healthline, my Mum, the ED again and they've all said as long as she doesn't have a fever she just has to ride it out, and once the Anti-B's kick in then she will start improving.

2 weeks ago she was in hospital for three days with a suspected Kidney and urinary tract infection.. she had a high temp but no other presenting symptoms, other than flank pain in the 2nd day. She had blood in her urine back then and has it again now... They discharged her saying she wouldn't need a full course of Antibiotics because the second urine test showed nothing, so they thought it was just a viral thing (Viral.. always the way!)

So what should I do? Take her back to the ED or wait?

Take her back, I've had quite a bit of experience with hutt hospital and TBH I often think they don't investigate things as well as they could (obviously there will be great staff there as well, I just seem to always get the slack ones....)

i would dose her up on pamo and her AB's. give her some cranberry juice too. if no improvement by tomorrow then i would take her back. (if the pain is that bad tho you can give the other stuff as well - ummm cant remember what its called tho...but it lasts 6 hours instead of 4 and you can give both.)

Definitely keep going back - sometimes you have to be persistent.

I recently had my own health problems..... it took 4 x visits to A&E and me being semi-paraletic before they finally admitted me to hospital.

Thanks Ladies.

Just went out and got her nurofen. Bizzy I think that is what you are talking about.. I can give her both nurofen and pamol

She seems a bit better now, I'm going to see how she is in an hour or two. She doesn't have a fever at the moment, TysMummy did your daughter have a fever?

If the antibiotics work for a little bit and then the pain/blood returns after she has finished the course, get a referral from your GP to see a urologist. Don't let them just give you more antibiotics.

Get her to drink lots of cranberry juice. I get UTI quite a bit and it does make me feel better as well has help solve the problem. Just watch out if she starts vomiting - that stuff stains

Yip, dose her up big time on cranberry juice and as much water as possible.

I use to get lots of UTI's and at about 12 I had to go on low dose AB's for 3 months to get rid of it completely.

Did they do a scan??? Sounds like it could be a kidney stone which would be very painful. Hope you are on your way to the hospital.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Looks like you've headed back to the hospital.

I hope you get some answers!

Hugs for you all
