I have been looking at options for me to exercise safely through my pregnancy and like the idea of an aquanatal class but can't find any in Hamilton. Can anyone help with this?

Also any recommendations for pregnancy pilates classes that are reasonably priced.

Hi    At the Rec Centre 8384177 they're setting up a class called 'Suga Mamas'. I dont know too much about it but it is run in the endless pool there. It's just a new thing they're starting, but try calling there

Ooh, that would be interesting. The Rec Centre's close to us. I'd be keen on something like that, although I haven't really looked into any classes.

Yeah it is KA. That pool is not heated though and it closes in March, so not sure what that is about. The other thing you can do is look up Sport Waikato and their PushPlay initiative as they too have pregnancy specific aqua classes. Call SPARC for more information about activities in Hamilton: 0800 ACTIVE (0800 22 84 83).

There are pilate classes at various places around Hamilton but they are not cheap.

KAndrews - There is b*gger all to do in Hamilton when you are pregnant! I spend ages researching and couldn't find anywhere that did.

You could join the aquajog classes at the Te Rapa pools but they aren't pregnancy specific and most of the participants are elderly women!

I had bad back pain so was seeing a physio at the hospital and as part of the treatment they hold a aquanatal class but it's not open to the public unfortunately. Hopefully once the hydrotherapy pool is open in Te Rapa someone will think to offer Aquanatal classes.

One thing I did find was Pregnancy Yoga which I started when I was 32 weeks, it is/was held at the Parent Centre of Boundary Rd and was $6 a session. Nothing very strenuous and a bit hippyish but I still enjoyed it. Try giving them a call.

I did and still do the aquafit classes at the Gallagher pools on Collins road, they're good because they're easy on your joints and you could do it at a pace that suits you, you'd just need to let the instuctor know that you're pregnant.
Shelley :)
