Topic: Stirfry Posted: 08 March 2010 at 8:20pm |
Does anyone have a good stirfry recipe with simple ingredients? I don't really enjoy cooking so my pantry just has the basics. I have started making stirfries a bit more but they don't have much flavour, they rally just seem to end up being steamed veges

Buy some teriyaki sauce or there are proper stirfry sauces i remember them saying something about wok sauces.
I normally do some bacon, fried egg cut up chuck in mixed vege and any fresh vege I might have then chuck in the teriyaki sauce with a little bit of soy sauce for the flavour. Oh and if I'm having rice cook the rice seperately then chuck it all in a frying pan.

I like this one, it has a yummy satay flavour from the peanut butter. But, I make a bit more sauce and you don't need that much chicken. Either serve on rice or noodles.

Maybe try getting some of the stir fry sauces - might be easier for you just starting out. I just had a really nice plum one from the select foodtown range. Also I find rice noodles really handy to have as they are ready in only a few mins and make a change from rice.

I have one very extremely simple idea that works brilliantly :)
stir fry everything & then add in one tablespoon of golden syrup try it you'll be pleasantly surprised. You may need to thicken then just add in a bit of cornflour in water.

I hate the packaged sauces, I find them way too salty.
We have a lot of stir-fries. "Standard" sauce here is garlic and ginger (and fresh chilli if you've got them) fried in a little bit of oil till fragrant, then cook the meat. Remove meat from pan (or it will overcook) and stirfry veges till they're JUST cooked, add meat, about a tablespoon of soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce and a squirt of lime juice. Sometimes I add a couple of tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter.
Easy teriyaki sauce is 1/4 cup mirin, 1 T soy sauce and 1 t sugar. Mix till sugar is dissolved and simmer over a med heat till it thickens. I would cook the sauce separately then add to stirfry otherwise your ingredients will be overcooked

We often add a tin of watties flavoured tomatoes to our veges, then just serve them with something starchy. Last night we used Watties Indian tomatoes, so yummy and served them with Quinoa.
