Topic: Fifth birthdays this time! Posted: 21 March 2010 at 9:58am |
Was reading the new responses on the 1st brithday thread and saw some good ideas for 1st birthdays thought maybe some of you ladies could help with my sons fifth birthday.
I dont do parties till the fifth and when gabriel turned five i hired a bouncy castle and did a spiderman theme... it was awesome.
However it will be winter when toby turns five and i am not sure what to do for him... it will be his first party and he will get to invite some friends from kindy and i want it to be special!
So hit me with your cool party ideas! Please..

Now this is the age of parties I like !
Pirate theme , with a treasure hunt , come dressed as a pirate
Dinosaur birthday party , make pretend fossils they can dig up , play pin the horn on the triceratops
Cars and trucks party , where they literally , bring their favorite car and race it round (this just means the boys amuse themselves really )
For C's birthdays i've done
princesses and Pirates
Disco party (get a few disco balls, play some funky music white boy and there you go )
little ladies birthday party (with ladies "high tea" )

You could have a party at lollipops, McDonalds or somewhere like MOTAT or Butterfly Creek that is weather proof.

I always google as there are some cool ideas and sites out there with party suggestions.
This site is cool for ideas and themes although some are a wee bit naff. I quite like the build a robot idea. Get heaps of boxes from the supermarket, a couple of rolls of masking tape and tinfoil and leave them to it.

Maybe you could rent out the local kindy/playcentre...Friends of mine did this in Te Atatu recently and they said it was really cheap. As it had a kitchen/tables/chairs and a huge playground it was perfect. They hired a castle too.

For McKayla this year we are doing an Enchanted forest party (so far this off course can change at any point of time before Dec).
Bizzy I second hiring a playcentre. Some charge a bit more than what they do their enrolled members. But it ranges from like $20 to about $50 and it usually includes most of the things like paint, clay, can make playdough. all the dress ups ect.

Im going probably going to have a "shared" party with one of his wee besties who is 5 two days after jake and we are going to hire the indoor sports centre, as it will be winter and I don't fancy the mess and noise at home!
I always do parites (more fo rmy benefit, lol, I love the chaos, food and catching up) I always stipulate no gifts, however at his 4th he had been t a few and whiel some still bring gifts he couldn't understand why not everyone brought pressies, so this year I'm not going to say no gifts. Its a special birthday, so if people want to bring him something then yeah. But I won't have a list or register. Thats just rude.
Um am goign to get a bouncy castle to go in there - a lady at preschool has one cheaper to hire and I'll do a cake (depending on what he's into) make a pinata and am going to ask my friends mum and her partner to "cater" for us this year. Sounds extravagant, but there will be probably 40 kids or so with both families and we will be busy enough. Won't cost much. They (the centre) set up indoor soccor for littlies and basketball etc, so a bit to do, maybe some games. Then no more parties till he's 10!
