Hey all, well what a up and down 5 weeks its been!
I'm so over going up and down from the hospital! I'm so tired from all the traveling its not funny! (we are busing everywhere!)
anyway...
He is doing really well now! the steroids have stopped and his morphine is getting reduced everyday, they were a bit concerned as the last 2 weigh ins he had lost weight! (he went from 1485g to 1405g to 1365g!) he got weighed yesterday and... hes 1465g! (thats 100g weight gain in 4 days) and they measured him... 40.5cm! (up 6cm) in length
They are very pleased with his breathing and Im getting to cuddle him everyday now! WOOHOO!  also when he is up for cuddles hes been coming off CPAP and just having the oxygen prongs up his nose (the difference between CPAP and just oxygen prongs is CPAP uses pressure to 'help' inflate the lungs and give oxygen - assists him with breathing and the oxygen prongs does nothing but give oxygen! - means when hes on it he does all the work of breathing!)
I'm so happy with how he is doing! the nurse even said when he reaches 1800g we can start giving him a bath! Yay cant wait 
He is now on 11mls of breast milk per hour (and in his milk they are adding a special powder which gives him more calories! to put more weight on)
I will continue to keep you all updated, I am trying to put new photos up on the site daily or every second day - and I'm going to be getting Jamie to do something with that site to make it a bit more appealing!

Weight: 1135g (2lb 8oz)
Length: 34cm (13.38 inches)
Head Circumference: 26cm (10.23inches)
NOW: 01/01/07
Weight: 1465g (3lb 3oz)

Good weight gain
Fantastic that things are really starting to improve... I think you've had more than enough challenges over the last few weeks so here's hoping it keeps getting better from here on in.

Woohoo he is doing sooo well. Gr8 to hear he is able to use nasal prong instead of cpap when up  . I worked in a Neonatal unit at our local hosp, and these little babies are great little battlers. Good luck to you for the next 5weeks. Things will ony get better  . He is just sooooo gorgeous, keep us posted. Love checking updates. Big hugs to you.

Yay Trish, I'm so pleased to hear Aidan is doing well! I have been checking in for an update from you! And he is doing so well with his weight gains, Ashleigh was only 1290g at 5 weeks and didn't go through any of the stuff Aidan has, with the ventilator, infections and his op etc!
And I hear you on the travelling  Have you been filling in the travel assistance forms? We got a nice refund of around $800 when Ashleigh came home

WOW what progress...and you have all def moved on from being "OK"....he is such a wee battler and i love the fact that he looks like he wont fit on those scales length wise much longer...now that it awesome!!!
I hope you do get some travel assistance...it cant be easy bussing everywhere...im sorry i cant help you out from up here!

Ive Updated his Photos... They now have some OF Jamie with his First Cuddle! (and it was also the first time he has seen him in 2 weeks! - Bloody FLU!)
