    Posted: 05 April 2010 at 8:53pm
Hi, I have been a bit worried about my milk supply lately. Around 5pm time at his usual change, his nappy is not very wet. I know the quality and quantity of our milk supply drops in the afternoon but I wonder if it is too much. Not sure about his weight gains as haven't been able to get to Plunket to check.

Anyway, I just wanted to ask a couple of questions:

1. Has anyone had this experience of dry-er nappies in the afternoon/evening? If so - was it anything you worried about - anything that helped?

2. What colour exactly is green poo? Is it green or more of a khaki colour - he had a yellow/khaki colour tonight and I was wondering if it was considered "green poo." If it is, perhaps he's just getting my foremilk - what can I do about that?

3. I am planning to start him on solids this week in the hope that it might help... but was thinking this might just increase his poos rather than increasing his wet nappies?

Any suggestions/advice appreciated!

a wet nappy is a wet nappy. reagardless of how much! and food wont increase how much he wets, but it wil definitely change the poo situation.

Green poo is very green. If you are worried, feed him again off that one side if you are feeding in a short space of time.

My boy changed and started having drier nappys during parts of the day. I guess it's bladder/muscle development?

I was told by my sons paediatrician that as long as the poo isn't white, black or red it's absolutely fine and very common to have green watery poos with breastfed babies.    Not sure if that helps you much!
