Hey Ladies,

I was just wondering if anyone else goes through stages of being sooo clucky and then all of a sudden, you're not so much?

It's a really strange feeling.
DH and I have been ttc for a while - Around 9 months or so and the whole time we were so determined to get pregnant and we planned BDing and charting and all that stuff and now....... Well I seem to have lost my desire to have a baby RIGHT THIS MINUTE?

We were sure that we were 100% ready to be parents but now I'm not 100% sure we are, more like 80%.
Does that make sense?

Obviously, if we do get pregnant, we would be over the moon but I kinda just don't care anymore.
I feel like that makes me sound awful!
I think we have been put off with how hard it can be getting BFN all the time.......

Has anyone else felt like this?
Will my cluck come back!?

Hi Parki - I know this feeling well, and I don't think Im over wanting to be a mum again (already a mum with a 12 yr old) but I am definately over getting the BFN'S!! We have been trying only for six months but I am so over nothing happening each month

I think its because I like to get on with things and with ttc'in its kinda like a lottery a bit, I guess for me anyway

Parki- I can SO relate to what you're saying!!

I was gutted to have a m/c last month and now am obsessed with getting pg again cos I just want a family so much...but the 'cluck' factor is lessoned this time around that's for sure. DP and I will be THRILLED if we do get pg, but part of me is now at the Can't Be Bothered Anymore Stage. Feels like my whole life has started revolving around charting and poas and bd'ng at the 'right' time. I kind of resent that but feel like I need to monitor things a little bit cos I'm 34 now and don't want to leave it too late.

When I stand back and look at it it's a bit absurd really. How I think I have any real control over getting pg is silly really... I agree with you that constant BFN's must be a big part of the cluck going.

I've got enough cluck to go round if anyone wants any.

Parki, it's not unusual to feel that way, especially since you have been so serious about it with the planned BDing and charting etc. Even when I was pregnant (and ours was planned too) I had times when I decided I didn't want to have a baby anymore.

I think that maybe not caring anymore might help you relax about it all which in turn could help you concieve.

Parki, I'm in the middle of an IVF cycle and there's not a single cluck to be had from this direction!

Hey Kel,

YEP! I am exactly the same! Even enough to actually put ttc off for a while!

It was heartbreaking getting the BFN's when you think it wont take THAT long.

I am sure the cluck will come back - it is such a rollercoaster ride ttc so its no wonder we have ups and downs.

When we go to try again we aren't going to chart, or do lots of preggers tests for this very reason. We will just do what we normal do and just get rid of the protection. I think that charting etc takes the "fun" out of it a bit and it becomes so serious and on here I've seen it drag so many ppl down with disappointment.

Wow, thanks for everyones replies! Glad to know Im not alone!

It's not actually the charting, organised BDing and all that stuff thats making me feel this way! Well its a small part of it, its REALLY hard to explain....

E.G; For the last year or so, whenever I have been around babies I have been so clucky and as soon as I see them I had almost a yearning for one of my own. Its all I could think about , its all I wanted and I decided that being a Mama was next on my 'To Do' list - So to speak. That we were super ready and that it woudl be teh most fabulous thing for DH & I....

Now, when I see a baby I still think they are cute, adorable and all that, but I don't have that same desire to have one of my own anymore. Not just yet, anyway?

Maybe after TTC unsuccessfuly for this long, its given us time to really think if this is what we want.
Where as, if we had gotten pg straight away, I would never have had time to re-think the situation.... Am I making any sense?

I was the same after our m/c last July, before that we were so excited to try and get pregnant and then I got pregnant and m/c a few weeks later.
I wanted to try again but I wasnt as excited, I was more scared we'd lose this baby aswell so I did lose my *cluck*.
So we wernt really trying that hard and then HELLO I was pregnant again, and after the 12 week mark the *cluck* came back and now Im cluck cluck cluck and cant wait for this little boy to be born!

Definately. I was clucky but after this second miscarriage I feel totally disinterested in having more children. I know I will eventually but for now I am just not even going to think about it.

hugs.

Right now I'm not all that clucky but I think it probably has a lot to do with my gut feeling that we just won't be able to conceive this year. I think, for me, it's a matter of my emotions protecting me or something.

I think i know what you mean. Right after I got married I really surprised myself how clucky I got, and had work/study not interfered to make it a bad move for us right then, I think we may have TTC then. However, we didn't, and I did find that after a while (6 months maybe?) the cluckiness subsided heaps. Must admit that it's recently come back with a vengeance though! We've been married for just over 2 years now.
The work/study thing is still an issue for us, so we are tentatively planning early next year to TTC, but I guess I'll wait and see how clucky I am then!
As much as I was clucky at the time, I have REALLY loved having my husband totally to myself for the last couple of years, and now I know that I'm very ready to bring a new person(s) into our relationship without feeling like I've missed out on that one-on-one time.
So thats my 2 cents worth. I haven't regretted no TTC at the time one bit, and I figure it will be all the better when we do get there for having waited.
If I remember rightly from NZWP you are relatively young right? In which case, if you are doubting if you want this now, I'd probably wait. I'm pretty sure the cluck will come back eventually, and you can enjoy life with your hubby in the meantime. Just my opinion anyway

I think for myself when we took the focus off trying for a baby it happened both times for us. All the very best of luck to you

Since I hit my 30s I get clucky at everything, even puppies and kittens, and now that my nieces are growing up they're absolutely beautiful and wonder what they'd be like having cousins.

I think its when the cluck factor goes away and you still want to be parents, despite the realities of sleep deprivation, dirty nappies and stretch marks thats when you're really ready for parenthood.

I'm already there, convincing DH is another thing.

Hi

It's very normal. We went from taking it easy and seeing what happens to a few months of really really wanting it to be NOW but now I'm at a point where I really don't care either way. I'll get excited when it happens but until then I'm just going to have fun doing everything else. It didn't even bother me when we got a call to say that my cousins second baby arrived yesterday. It's nice to have a new baby in the family even if it's not mine.

You're fine, you're perfectly normal, you're wonderful with or without a baby and when it happens I'm positive you'll get your cluck back and do the maternal chicken dance.

I am the same AprilFools. But I go on and off the idea so much that I am worried that when I do eventually get pregnant I am going to change my mind!
