Topic: Dessert help Posted: 01 May 2006 at 9:17am |
Does anyone have an amazing dessert that I can steel the recepie for? Something easy that travels well. Am off to a dessert and desperate housewives night tonight, and we always have the same things, ice cream and frozen yoghurt and chocolate.
Any ideas appreciated

Lemon meringue pie? I think it's easy (from what I can remember)...and since you have the entire day off work to puddle about, I'm not going to give you the recipe on principle (and I also don't have it at work with me ...obviously )
Mmmmmm ....lemon meringue pie
Remind me to give you my chocolate brownie recipe for next week - it takes all of about 15 mins to put together, 30 mins in the oven, and then you have the most magical brownies on the face of the earth!

oh and my idea of making lemon meringue pie involves getting into the car and making a trip to the cheesecake shop.

Oooh, I found a great recipe for cheesecake. you make up your favourite cookie recipe, and use that for the base. then whip up a carton of cream, mix with some gelatine, a thing of cream cheese, and....something sweet....now, i think it might be on the Good Morning website - try white chocolate cheesecake - maybe that is it.
somthing else I used to love, whip cream, mix with condensed milk, and lemon rind...voila!

here is my favourite dessert recipe.
1. get in the car.
2. drive to the supermarket.
3. buy "betty crockers reduced fat chocolate fudge brownie"
4. take it home.
5. open box, mix packet contents with water and 1 egg.
6. put into oven for 25 mins
7. bring out of oven, let cool for 5 mins or so. then eat eat eat - it is reduced fat so eat yum
this is yum with ice cream ( serve it warm, either fresh from oven or heat in microwave ) or cool and cut it into slice pieces.

OK mama_wendz ...I have had ambrosia once in my life, years ago, and remember it being the most divine thing I have ever tasted. If you can give me the recipe - I will be your friend for LIFE!!
It's a shame there's not a down-on-bended-knee-begging smiley face!

ambrosia is yum wendz, good idea. i like to us frozen mixed berries and plain yoghurt in mine. of course lots of marshmallows. has anyone tried it with mandarin segments in it? apparently that is beautiful too.

I think you use berry yoghurt and cream then add all that you want.
My mum made it when we were younger and it was with yoghurt that had a purple colour, we called it purple diaoreah (sp), I think many people would wonder what we were on about when we would ask for it in public.

I make ambrosia with plain, unsweetened yoghert, whipped cream (gives it more volume), tinned boysenberries, marshmellows and chocolate chips.
Mix together about 300ml each yoghert and whipped cream.
Drain boysenberries, keeping juice. Mix berries into yoghert/cream mix, then sweeten with boysenberry juice to suit.
Add 1 packet of marshmellows, cut in half (then they'll absorb the flavours) and about 1 cup of chocolate chips.
Even better the next day!
Oh - this makes quite a large amount... definitly enough for sharing!

Thanks Becca!! haha
I just managed to get back on the site and you beat me to the recipe...
It is delicious and refreshing.
If you are anything like me you can just use a berry flavoured yoghurt, cream, and LOTS of marshmellows (i like using the big ones and cutting them in half) and LOTS of dairy milk chocolate cubes!! I usually buy the king sized dairy milk bar and break up the squares. hehehe Naughty I know!
You may also want to try using those dairy milk chocettes? I think choc chips are too small? haha
Sooooo... is everyone going home to make Ambrosia tonight? haha

Yummo! Thanks Becca and wendz!
I'd better not make any tonight ...the boss just took us out for lunch, and I finished my (entire ) woodfired pizza lunch off with cooked chocolate mousse with white chocolate soup for dessert
At least I have an idea what it's like having a preggy tummy now ...I look about 4 months gone!!
