First off I have to say WELL DONE!!!!!! I know it not easy to do I still find it hard Hubby is still a smoker.
ok not so sure if it is cheap, but cross stitch is great you jsut have to follow a pattern great for us one's wohtout a creative bone. you could also take up knitting it is pretty easy and cheap. O love doing craft, but like you not too creative so thing's that follow a set pattern are great.

I took up scrapbooking, its as hard or easy as you want it to be, and it whiles away hours in what seems like minutes....

Yay Linelle on giving up smoking. I have been smokefree for 1 year and 1 week and 1 day today and I love it. I was silly enough when I was pregnant with Andrew to quit the day I found out I was pregnant and start the day I stopped breast feeding. This time it is so for good.

My hobby is playing in the brass band that I have played in for years - but what about gardening. Growing a vege garden. Seeds don't cost all that much and now is a good time to be planting. I have that to entertain me as well now. And you may find that Ethan when he is older will help you out. Andrew loves being out inthe garden pulling weeds (he only pulls weeds) out and watering the plants.

tell me about it Aimee, I have a hot water cupboard full of it, I am a real hoarder...

I'm probably going to suggest a really boring one here...reading! I read everything! Every section of the paper (including the deaths - how morbid!), every flyer that comes thru the letter box. I probably go thru a novel a week. And it's cheap if you just go to the library instead of buying books. They also have magazines to borrow too.

My DH can't seem to figure out how I can read my book, watch tv and still have a conversation with him! Multi tasking at it's best!

I love reading but Dh can't understand why I do it. I am getting Andrew into reading and he is loving books at the moment so will continue that on.

What about photography - you don't have to have the flashest camera around to take pics of Ethan. Set up different scenes like they do at the flash places that charge you an arm and a leg for 1 tiny little photo. And if its a digital camera you have at least you know you can take as many pics as needed to get "the" photo of him, and not worry about the wastage of film.

I have to say scrapbooking too - I am a total addict. There are 2 best bits to it. The first is that you are reliving awesome memories in a fun context. The second is that you can go as simple (cut out pictures, card put them on a page with journalling and stickers), or as complex and creative (etching in metal, combining fabric, developing into altered books etc)as you like. And places like spotlight/warehouse/stationary warehouse have a good basic supply of stuff.

I read constantly, I get really grumpy if i cant read and yep hubby gets annoyed at me reading and watching tv and not letting him change the channel cos Im "watching something"

I used to make teddy bears, they really easy, you can get cheap material though and are great for gifts, I even sold some red and black ones, good old canterbury colours. in fact i sold heaps of teddy bears and was making a decent amount of money out of them considering it was just a hobby.

Knitting is another option and if you dont know what to do with the stuff you knit and dont want to sell it then I would suggest donating it to the hospital or CFY's soemething like that. I know the neotnatal units are always losing stuff when parents take it home (like we did oops but it was his first hat so we had to keep it)
