Topic: waaaaaaaaaaay too much information Posted: 18 April 2007 at 9:58pm |
Am really annoyed at myself!!! Saturday I made these meat patties - they had feta cheese in the middle. anyway, Sunday, I decided to have the leftover. Smelt...well....okay-ish so i ate it. not the best decision I have ever made. Anyway, since then have had massive stomach cramps (reminiscent of labour), and been on the toilet...A LOT!!!! have been feeling better yesterday and today but still have diarrhea (sorry! - but be warned more to come). it's nearly four days now - am thinking thats not so good. But when i went to the toilet just now, the bowl is full of blood. I'm thinking...mayeb I should go to the doctor now. Am all alone at present - Lew is at work - so figured might as well talk to the Ohbaby ladeis and tell them (you) my woes. weird.

4 days on doesn't exactly sound like food poisoning... I think? But I really don't like that blood idea. Try Healthline tonight for some advice? And remember to keep up your fluids, if nothing else.
PS Get well soon!

you could have just irritated your lower bowel, hence the blood. If it was bright red it is likely to be rectal blood. Hopefully it will all settle down. I have been getting that from time to time with this pregnancy as I have been SOOOO constipated but my bowels are funny anyway so bleeding is not unusual for me if things arent going right.
hope it all turns out ok and you feel better soon

Hope healthline were helpful last night Liz. And that you didnt have any reoccurance.

ok TMI but I have that same blood at moment...a haemmoroid finally came off - well it doesnt come off but it goes internal apparently and then gets irritated when i go each time...the site of the bowl filled with blood worries me each time but Spec says it should clear up...im going to ask doc for a drug / pessary that apparently freezes it so it all stops sooner than maybe 2-3 months from now....sounds like you may have the same. esp if you had the hems in pregnancy?
oh and it doesnt rquire constipation to set off the blood either so you going so much may have irritated it.

okay, that sounds good. I didn't ring healthline as...well, they've never been helpful so far. i am going to the doctor though as I'm sure this many days can't be good dehydration-wise. am also going to my weight wacthers meeting and hoping I've lost weight! must be a bloody (pun not intended) silver lining to this! will keep you all informed....probably too informed. I don't tell my RLfriends this in-depth info!

Sounds like what I had a couple of months ago. Campylobacter. Its pretty nasty and irritates the bowel to cause bleeding and awful tummy cramps. It usually requires antibiotics to clear it up and lasts anywhere from 6-10 days.
I hope you get better quickly chick, and totally agree r.e. the silver lining. I got back into my pre-baby jeans after having it and it was the only good thing about it!

my BiL had that campola-whats-it-called. Its food poisoning and he was really ill for ages (dumb male that refuses to go to Drs *rolls eyes*) anyways when he finally did he was on fairly strong meds and rehydration drinks. It can be quite dangerous especially if you have little ones around and you're making their food up.
Hope you get better soon

I was just going to say the same thing, sounds like Campylobacter to me. They will get you to do a stool sample and then it will get tested at med lab. If its positive you will know pretty soon.
In the meantime get some electrolytes into you - have you got gastrolyte? You def need to replace some fluids.
Its highly contaigeous too, so after going to the loo make sure you dry your hands on your own towel and don't let anyone else use it.
I know a bit about it as its what my doc's thought i had - after 10 days of bleeding, sleeping all day, and not being able to keep water down she reluctantly said go to the hospital. Turns out i had severe crohns disease and if i had left it much longer without treatment i could have died. So in my opinion, best to get it checked out quickly!
let us know how you get on at the docs!

I'm feeling a lot better but still have the odd cramp and STILl diahhrea! so have made an appointment for tomorrow. We have a history of bowel cancer in our family too (woohoo!), so will have to be tested (again) for that. I've had camphilobactor before - pretty similar i think so maybe that, but i have beenREALLy careful about the food prep. Luckily! Hope hope hope the kisd will be fine, but both seem perky as usual.

I hope you are felling better soon. My dad had a really bad case of Camplyobactor (SP?) he was advised by the Gp to drink Coke, it seemed to help> Whenever we get an upset stomach all now drink Coke to help.
