    Posted: 26 October 2007 at 3:31am
I went out late night shopping tonight to get a nice new outfit to wear to my 30th next weekend. I was so excited, baby was asleep at home with Daddy and I was out with a handbag instead of a nappy bag.

However my excitement soon turned to dismay! I couldn't fit a single thing that I tried on Some of you may be thinking "try a bigger size" but I couldn't bring myself too! I guess it's a mental thing? I'm normally a size 12 and couldn't get into anything that was a size 16!!

Now I didn't think that I'd miraculously bounce back to my pre-baby figure straight away, and I know that it's only been 10 weeks, but not finding anything was a wake up call.

No more biscuits for me! I'm telling you all so I make myself accountable for my actions!!!!

In the morning I'm going to weigh myself and post my weight on here as motivation to do something about it! I figure telling you girls will help! Fingers crossed.

I have my BIL's wedding in February, and although I know that over christmas will be tough, I'm hoping to have lost at least 5kg by then. Realistic I think!

I'm going to count WW points (have done that before) and now the weather is perking up I'm going to go out walking more (anyone in Te At penisula is welcome to come with me!!)

I feel positive I can do this!!!

Good on you! I wish you all the best you can do it! I sometimes think it is way easier when you have a goal and something to work towards,

Aww don't be too hard on yourself. In my experience, it takes about 6mos to recover from pregnancy and breastfeeding (til the baby is 6mos). And even then you will be a bigger size because your heart and lungs (and sometimes hips) expand when you are pregnant.

But I hear you on the snacking!

Don't beat yaself up too much.. I can only fit 16-18 stuff now, when prepregnancy I had worked by bum off to get down to a 12, sometimes 14. Even though it sometimes feel like I wasted my time loosing tons of weight I still have little motivation

Good on you!!! you can do it. Ashlee was a whole year old before I decided to really start doing something about my weight. 12 weeks ago, I told myself that I wanted to lose 10kgs by Labour weekend. I originally thought I would never do it, and that it was so out of reach.

On the Saturday morning of Labour weekend, I weight in at EXACTLY 10kgs lighter!!! It can be done! Especially if you make it your priority. It definitely helps to have a goal to work towards. I've set myself another goal of losing another 5kg by Christmas and it sounds far fetched, but I'm determined. I'm a bridesmaid for a friend in February and that's motivation! Just make it a priority, and you'll do great.

Can't wait to read of your progress. All the best!

I hear what you are saying sparkle, it sounds identical to me. I started on my weight loss/toning regime last week and just feel heaps better now that i am doing something. I think it is all a bit of a shock, as no one really tells you what your body will be like after the birth (it may put too many people off ) Good luck, i'm sure you'll do great.

Walking, walking and more walking! I felt horrid after having Hannah and once she was about 2 mnths old, I started going for a walk every morning - she had that sleep in her pram - and not only did I feel heaps better for getting out of the house, I was feeling better about myself so was eating better and the weight fell off. Lots of walking, water and not denying yourself treats when you need them, and you will do great. All the best

Sparkle I know what you mean. I am pretty much back close to my pre preg weight (which was always 10kg higher than where I would like it to be) but nothing fits!! I used to be a size 12-14 in the bottom half and now struggle with some size 16s! This is nuts as I didnt really put on weight there. My hips have gotten bigger but nort 2 sizes!! A for the top half...forget it!I always struggled with a flabby tummy and big boobs and pregnancy has just made those flabbier and bigger.

I was so depressed shopping and I also feel "out of touch" with fashion after 6 months of preggy clothes. I dont know where to begin.

As for losing more weight..did you find you lost heaps at the start and now it is creeping back on? I also snack on bickies too much. I just get SOOOOO hungry and thats the easist thing!

Good luck! I'm determined to getmore active now the weather is better...no excuses huh?

NZpiper, YES!!! I was losing about 500gr a week at the start, and after stepping on the scales this morning, I can definitely see that it has crept back on!!

Right, first weigh in: 82.3kg eeeekkkkkkk!!! I'm normally around the 70kg mark, so here goes!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I will let you know how I get on each Friday.

Good luck Sparkle, you can do it. Why don't you make a weight loss ticker and add it too your signature, will give you a bit of motivation each time you make a post on here.

I remember after I'd had Nyah, I decided that I wanted to get some new clothes when she was around 6mths old...we went to Ezibuy and I tried on heaps of stuff and walked out of the shop in tears and no clothes.. before I'd had her I was a size 10 and I couldn't even get the size 16's to fit me!! I reckon it took me till she was around 10mths old before I lost a decent amount of weight and got to a size 14... it was hard work though...I have no idea how much I weigh at the moment.. I gauge it by the fact that I can fit my pre pregnancy jeans which are 16's, so I figure I'm the same weight as I was before I had him.

So I wish you all the luck and I will watch your progress which will hopefully give me the kick in the bum that I need to lose some before Summer...

I'm hearing you Sparkle! Went shopping last week as desperately needed new clothes, but nothing looks good on me! I'm a 16 at the moment, which is what I was before I fell pg with Jett. So I'm happy I haven't gain a sz. I was 12 when first got pg with Rico, then went up to a 14 after having Gia, now a 16. But now that I've finished having my babies, I'm going to concentrate on getting my body back into shape & hopefully get down to a 12-14.

But I am eating too much of the bad food & not enough of the good at the moment. So I know where I have to start in order to loose some weight!

Good on you & look forward to seeing your progress.

I was 65kg on my wedding day (which was only 20 months aga ) Although I'd love to be that size again, it was hard work as I think naturally I should be about 70kg.

I'm feeling real good about it (even though it's only the first day!). I've decided that Wednesdays are going to be my treat day as that's when I meet with Coffee group and I don't want to deny myself a piece of cake if everyone else is eating it............I'd probably go home and eat a whole one!

Right, I've got the buggy out and as soon as Cooper wakes up we're going for our walk!

I'm struggling big time with my weight loss. I am attending WW meetings but haven't lost any weight for the past 3 weeks (nor have I gained which is a good thing). I have other issues with mine (PND) which i'm probably going to bite the bullet and talk to my dr about taking something to help weight loss. I don't deny myself foods like that either (we have fish and chips every Friday night) I just make sure I do an extra big walk to gain the extra points for it. I still have 21kgs to lose, and I want them gone by the end of next year when DH graduates from Officer Training with the Army.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I'm going to buck the trend and have a stab at size acceptance here. If it took 9 months for your body to get to its current size (and you probably ate reasonably healthily for bubbas sake) then it seems to me that you should be a bit gentler on yourself sparkle and realise that it will take about the same length of time to get back into shape (if your body allows you to do it). In the meantime, then there are some beautiful clothes around, and noone needs an excuse to go shopping ...
