Topic: Christmas gift ideas Posted: 30 November 2007 at 8:08am |
I am hopeless trying to work out gift ideas for most people so thought we could share what we are getting in the hope of helping me!
DH/DP: I have no idea - hence this post!
Mum: Photo of Jack framed
Dad: A scrap booked album of Jack photos (mum got this for her birthday and loved it)
Gran: Most likely something to do with Jack again.
Jack: Wooden trolley filled with blocks and a few other bits and pieces

Good Question. We have such a huge list of people to buy for and haven't really even started. I think we are mostly going the easy road this year - considering we are now on one income with a child!
Basically we have said limits of $20 per child (we have 6 to buy for!) and $40 per adult/couple.
I have already sorted the adults. They are getting a $
20 voucher from Noel Leemings and a framed photo of Samantha.
As for DH, a new PS2 since his just died!
Sam is getting a leap pad (already put away in the cupboard) a new PP outfit and a ball popper. That nicely fits my something to wear, read & play with categories.
After that we also have a few friends we always do Xmas pressies for! Eeek! This is getting expensive!

our family all puts in $200 and that's what we spend on a combined pressie for everyone....ie....DH and i put in $200 and then think of something we want for that amount..this year we are getting the $$$ to put towards a new bbq
it's an easy way of buying for 7 people without going shopping!! and you don't have to worry about getting those little gifts that you don't really need
now i just need to figure out what to get the in-laws..they live in a bus so it's limited as to what we can buy

DH is getting some books and CDs, and a ticket to the Big Day Out, along with a bunch of disgusting British lollies from Bramptins that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.
Emma Rose is getting a tea set, a pedal car, and the Elefun game, along with everyone else's wrapping paper and discarded boxes to play with.
We're only doing presents for the kids this year, so my nieces (4 and 1) are getting name puzzles, a crayon apron, and books, and my nephew (almost 2) is getting the Elefun game (hee hee -- so cool), a shape sorter, and books.
I can't share what my godson is getting because his mummy is on the boards and I don't want her to know yet! LOL

DH - probably the second two Bourne Identity books, maybe some choccy as well
Parents and IL's - I am making a calendar from pics Hannah has drawn (get pic laminated, print out the calendar pages off internet somewhere, and get it all bound), some photos and an instant kiwi scratchie. Oh and me and Hannah have made Xmas cards.
Siblings and grandparents - photos and scratchies, with homemade card.
My neices and nephews in america arent getting anything as we all decided it was too expensive to post stuff. But my ones in NZ I will probably get a board game or similar for the 3 of them to play together.

Yay for online shopping!! Just got Hannah and DH sorted - the 2 books for Daniel off fishpond.co.nz were way cheaper than in the shop, and I got Hannah 2 books (Very hungry caterpillar and there was an old lady who swallowed a fly) and a wiglges DVD from fishpind as well. Also bought her a laptop thingy from IQ toys and another book. Along with her little santa sack toys (just a few $2 shop things) which I mostly have, she is sorted!!

i dont have any grandparents to buy for and we havent brought for hubbys before... adults like siblings dont get presents either but we buy for their kids instead and i usually get something small for our parents.
christmas is too expensive without having to buy gifts for uncles, aunts, cousins etc...
hubby is the one i have troubles with - it was going to be an mp3 player but he just recently got one thru his job so that leaves me back at the drawing board.

I'm trying to make most of mine but am absolutely stumped for the men. ARGH.
Just going to search up a storm now... but I quite like the idea of getting books off the net. Much cheaper!

11yr niece - supre vouchers
6yr niece - barbie
Dad and partner - white wine glasses - yay for briscoes
DF - lots of ideas, none that can be easily brought from a store.
I know someone's son has asked for his mum and gf to put money into a paypal acc so he can buy what he wants from an American store online.

Okay hubby I am getting a tool case thing for. Those big ones with the drawers ect. Then he is getting a few more small pressies.
My SIL (spending Christmas with us): I bought her a leather handbag already and I heard something about her looking at some MP3 players so getting her one like that.
McKayla: Well she got a frog bath toy thing, then a ladybird remote control toy, a lion toy that growls ect and then a pack with fake foods ect.
Then for the stockings it is for McKayla some hair clips and stuff like that and for the other two just some of their favourite sweets ect.
We dont go nuts on Christmas at all.

We're going to Sydney just after xmas so no pressies for DH or myself.
Kaleb is getting a shirt from JK, the peek-a-block train set and some books.
(Ungrateful) nieces and nephews are getting a gift either made or bought for limit of $15 each (should really just go $2 since they don't appreciate it anyway!)
My cousin's children and unborn niece/nephew are getting home made MCNs.
My brother wants a sun visor from Texas Uni.
Dad and his partner ?
MIL is getting a photo of Kaleb and a beaded bookmark
FIL and his partner ?
Nana is getting a beaded bookmark and probably some chocs
Aunty and cousins are getting beaded bookmarks (we're staying with them in Oz)
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly things add up!!!

My Christmas shopping is complete
(skite over )
We have a budget of roughly $10-$20 on everybody since we have a big family (I mean each of our immediate families are big). So I have to get rather creative! But here goes - B=boy then age; G=girl then age:
MIL & FIL - New dinner set (their current one was bought in the 70's by the looks - ugh brown!)
M & D - Wasjig puzzle (what happens next)
BIL & SIL with 1 kid - MCN & serving platter
BIL & SIL with double income, party lifestyle, no kids - tic tac toe glass set from Briscoes
S & BIL - would have been wine glasses but I didn't draw her name for SS
DH - Tshirt and a remote control motorbike from ToyWorld.
B-21 - boxer shorts with funny comments e.g. "I do all my own nude scenes" (he is a builder with building site humour)
B-17 - sudoku cube
G-16 - journal and gel pens
G-15 - new bra to her specifications lol
B-13 - Linz shower gel or something
B-10 - construction building set
G-7 - pretty hair tie etc set
B-5 - truck
Hannah (4) (bday and Christmas) - doll's bed, bottle, etc; new sandals, M&Ms
Briona (2 1/2) - sun glasses, throw (little blanket), bangles, M&Ms
Kryssi (1) (bday and Christmas) - doll, headband, little board books in baby size.
