Topic: Jaxs (is) paranoid post !! Posted: 08 January 2006 at 10:44am |
Ok so I know I've been rabbiting on about this in a couple of my responses to other threads, but I thought I'd be a bit of a diva and start a new thread on it altogether.
Make no mistake about it, I LOVE my bump, but I'm surprised that I seem to have "popped" so soon !! I occasionally try to 'suck it in' but my muscles let me know soon enough that it makes bubba uncomfortable, so I give up.
I also realise I'm not going to "explode" as I think nikki mentioned, but one thing that keeps niggling me is a stupid bit from "What to Expect" that says something along the lines of that at the end of the first trimester, any 'show' is more than likely JUST due to "excess weight gain" !!!! That bit made me really mad even when I'd only read it for the first time, as I realise all women are different in how their body handles pregnancy.
And the me being a "diva' bit comes from the fact that I feel a bit selfish / self centered in worrying so much about how people are going to react to this when I get back to NZ, esp. as I realise some people are apt to make nasty comments (as well as some nice ones perhaps, I dunno).
Anyway, thanks for listening to me vent everyone - I feel much better now !!

Hey Jax,
I remember when i was about 15wks pregnant someone coming up to me and saying and i quote "oh you have done so well with losing all that weight and now you are getting fat again", as you could imagine i was pretty upset by that comment, but i came back with an excellent comeback and you can use it if you want.
I said "yes i have these syptoms that only females get, Its called pregnancy", well that shut her up, made her really embrassed and i just walked away smiling.
Don't worry about what other ppl think, your body is doing excatly what it needs to for you, and you just need to relax and enjoy this experience. and if ppl do make comments just tell them to bug off its got nothing to do with them.
just remember that we are all here to support you

Jax, easier said than done, but dont worry what others think. Be proud and everyone else can shove it as Nikki said! And everyone is very different, you may not put on so much later on?

That "what to expect" isn't bad, but it can make you a little paranoid. The later one about what to expect in the first year was terrible - it made me constanlty wonder if Jake was okay, or if we were doing things wrong...take ANY of those books with a grain of salt as they can be a little rigid at times.

Excess wieght gain?? Bah! I'd hardly call a couple of kilos excess weight gain! If anyone does say anything then use one of the lines given and remember that we all think you are gorgeous in all your preggy glory! I'm really looking forward to seeing the bump when you get back!
I may not have the hands on experience yet but I agree in taking everything with a grain of salt...even people's well meaning advice...my doctor told my if i ws not getting my period every 28 days I prolly wasn't ovulating!! Listen to your body. It will tell you what you need!

I'm 25 weeks, and I'm HUGE!!! And I love it!! I know it's hard to get used to seeing yourself big - I had a couple of big cries in front of the mirror cos I just felt so ginormous, but you get past that :-) I am in awe of my body - I know this is what I was designed to do and it's amazing! Be empowered!! And there is nothing more amazing than feeling that little life inside you moving and kicking and growing.

awww Jax
I know what you mean about the "premature popping out" I couldn't believe it happend to me so early (tho I wasn't exactly skinny before lol) but personally I'm showing it off already and I'm really proud of my bump, even though I was torturing myself at the gym trying to loose 10kg, that was just before I found out I was pregnant - Now I stay well clear of the scales and just enjoying it all
Look after yourself mate

lolol, remember, maybe you do gain "excess" weight to start off with but it's fuel to help baby grow, cos once it takes off, it does so pretty quick. enjoy your bump, too soon it's gone.

Awwwwwww thanks ladies, you all have made me feel SO much better !! I am definitely going to keep those lines in mind for future use Bizarrely enough something compelled me to get on a scale again today and it seems like I haven't really gained any more weight since my last post about it, maybe 200g more. I was reading Up The Duff again (which I prefer heaps!!) and it said things should pick up a bit more as far as gaining, from this week onwards. I can't believe we're not all that far from finding out baby's gender either !!
Paws - YES !! Definitely looking forward to seeing you and the furries when I get back, bump included LOL
Toni - do you want to have coffee or something when I land in NZ again? I keep forgetting where you live coz I know you've told me, but we could have a good walk about the cafes somewhere and show off our bumps together *chuckle*
That's all from me for now though, time is a wasting on this lovely internet kiosk... take care girls, and thanks again !!!!

Hey Jax,
Of course I'd love to catch up and with anyone else that is keen. I'm out West (you're South aren't ya?) so maybe we could meet up in the middle, perhaps somewhere in town?
I'll try to be on MSN either tonight or tomorrow (depending on whether I can keep my eyes open past 5pm! lol) so I might catch ya on there
