    Posted: 04 June 2008 at 9:37pm
we are painting our sunroom half tea colour and I am wanting to put a feature wall - have yet to convince DH aout it- so what colours would be nice for a feature wall.

Our Dining, kitchen and lounge are open plan with the sunroom , the kitchen has red bench tops and we have dark wood all the way thru the house (nice maghongy and rinu colours)

so what colours do you suggest??

BTW - I not particularly looking for a red feature wall more something that will go with it

i was just thinking red, that was before you mentioned you had a lot of red in the house.

Are you after a dark or vibrant feature wall?

Our kitchen is like a sandy/tea colour and the off-white cupboards really stand out (makes the kitchen look huge when it is teeny tiny!

I've been having a play with the Resene website lately to see what colours go with what.
I just typed in "Half Tea" and this is what they suggest

How about Black? You could use white accessories to break it up?

I like the Slate brown.

How big is your sunroom? I'd be worried if you put a dark colour on there that it would make the room smaller.

its ummm medium but the feature wall will only be visiable from outside not from the dining/kitchen/lounge area. so it shouldn't make too much different in size of it

being a sunroom the darker colour might also make it too hot in the summer

Our's is painted cream and is always the warmest part of the house

How warm is the room naturally? I'd want to try a (not too vibrant) lime green if it was a feature wall - just to be different!!

Bizzy - i don't want to wall paper as its a hassle - but the rest of the house is going to be wall papered eventualy with textured wall paper as its got uneven gib underneath and would take ages to sand (I mean you will sand an sand and it still wouldn't be straight! - good ole houses for ya!)

Theres not alot of walls to paint thats why we decided to bite the bullet... yes it is the warmest in the house and the brightest which lights up the dining room as its got no windows so wanted to go with a bright colour as the main colour.

**licks the screen**

Felix looks like really yummy dark chocolate.

Feature walls will always be in - especially in older houses where you can get away with it
