What are the current favourite kids books in your house at the moment?
I need some ideas on what to look for at the library!

My 3 year old LOVES the book 'We're Going On a Bear Hunt'. Another one is 'Ten Wriggly Wiggly Caterpillars'.
Actually, I could list a heap of books, because he will want to read whatever he lays his little hands on, but those two are particular favorites.

Michaela's like that too, on a Saturday morning while DH sleeps in I sit on the couch and she brings me book after book after book and I read to her until she gets sick of it.
At bedtime she only gets one story and she has to choose. He favourites which she chooses from are "My cat likes to hide in boxes" "Beautiful butterflies" and the amazing machine books "Dazzling Diggers", "Amazing Aeroplanes" and "Roaring Rockets" (I really need to buy the rest of the series for her).

In fact anything by Lynley Dodd, Joy Cowley, Margaret Mahy etc.

Keziah  Hairy Maclary (Lynley Dodd).. They are the only books she'll sit and listen to the whole story LOL

Our favourites change all the time too. Current goodies are:
Vegetable Glue (even I love this one!)
We're going on a bear hunt
Arthur's Tractor (a fairytale with tractors and princesses)
Oh, The Places You'll Go (Dr Suess)
I generally just grab a handful of books at the library, flick through them to make sure there's a good picture/word ratio (too many words and DD1 gets bored, not enough and it's too simplistic for her) and we usually end up with at least one or two that she loves. She reads everything so I get lots of different books to keep up with the variety.

Joshua loves the Large Family series.
I love them too, they are really tongue in cheek about things like "we all tidied up. then mrs large tidied up again"

My Daughter LOVED the gurrufelo (pos not spelt right), guess how much I love you and Dr Suess, Hop on Pop is a great first book! My son loved the Dazzeling Digger/terrific trains books MrsMojo mentioned

Goldilocks - we use this as a cautionary tale about how you shouldn't steal, break and enter - my version had goldi eaten

Ella current favourite is a book which has words and illustrations to 'Wheels on a Bus.'.....I have to read it to her several times a day and no matter where I put it, she manages to find it.
She also really like this musical pop-up book I brough for her- series is called Snappy Sounds.

Anything Margret Mahy, Lynley dod or doctor seuss, or eric carle (hungry caterpillar etc)
They also love the books in the series of "if you give a mouse a muffin", "if you give a mouse a cookie" etc (very cute funny books)
There is another series called "daisy books" about a girl named daisy - we had one called tiger ways, which the girls liked, and another called "eat your peas" which was sooo funny cos all thru the book it would say "eat your peas Daisy" but we'd replace it with Ayja, because we have huge fights with her over eating peas.
We find lots of interesting ones at the library by chance.
We have just introduced the girls to Roald Dahl - I got georges marvelous medicine for $3 the other day and I ende dup reading the whole thing in 3 nights before bed - they loved it so much. I'm glad that they like his writing - I love him as a writer.

Rowan Bears in Pairs and That's not my Teddy.
She lets out little squeals each time you turn the page. So cute!!
