I'm so frustrated! I'm 36 weeks pregnant and we've just tried to fit the capsule into BOTH of our cars BUT it seems like no matter what we do, it just doesnt fit! and we follow all of the instructions, but it seems like our seatbelts are too short...has anyone else had this problem??

Yep it can happen. Phone the shop where u got it and see if they have any ideas or can change it. When we got ours the shop assistant came to our car and showed us how to fit it so we knew how to do it!

Yeah thats probably all you can do. You could still ring a babystore ans ask them if there is anything u can do about it.

   What about this monitor:
monitor There was a discussion about the shortage of AngelCare monitors not long ago, and someone suggested this one.

Its not a phil and ted capsule by any chance is it. Friends of mine had troubles because of seatbelt length in one of their cars. Sorry dont know if they solved their problem diddnt use it in that car.

We had P&T, fitted fine in our cars, but not in my parents older car(early 1990's). We ended up having to put Isla in the front seat.

The plunket car seat lady told me that a lot of the jap import cars have shorter seatbelts than other cars andto be careful when getting a seat, capsule or otherwise as a lot of them wont fit. Leahs seat barely fit in our old car, we changed to a stationwagon a couple of weeks ago and I bought a seatbelt extension strap from babycity for just in case we had similar problems but the seatbelts in the new car are slightly longer than the old car, so it was fine. You could get the extension belt, they were about $50-60 and they extend the belt by 300 mls I think it was, you may even be able to get them longer. Good luck. |

Thanks Nefertiti, I've rung babystuff and they have sold out but are ringing their supplier tomorrow to see if they have any tommee tippee monitors in stock.
Pip - no its not a phil and ted. I think the brand is Babywise.

Ours was pretty tight in some of our cars others the seat just needed to be moved back or leaned back slightly. DP was just gunna get a new seatbelt for one of the cars but it sold so didnt have to worry in the end. The Subaru GTB was the tightest fitting we had tho and we could still just get it done up

u need to buy one of the locking clips so u can use the seatbelt the alternate route.. instead of taking it through the back try taking it straight across the front where the lap sash goes and use the clip to secure it.

We had this problem with my car, the belt was just not long enough to go through the capsule the way it is meant to go. Ended up swapping cars with DH as his car fits the capsule fine. Also then bought a base for our capsule and the seatbelt will work through that for most cars.

Neeks - does the locking clip come off everytime the capsule is taken out of the car or does it stay on permanently?

it can stay on if your using the capsule in that car with every ride as it keeps the seat belt at the correct length etc or you can take it off.. it's entirely up to you! What brand capsule is it??
