Topic: Help!!!!! Posted: 28 April 2006 at 6:32pm |
I'm really not sure but I think I'm in labour. Lost my mucus plug this morning & now I'm getting pains. Alot different from the BH I have been getting. My whole tummy feels squeezed & lots of pressure down low. Lasts anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute, coming every 5-15 minutes so far.
I called my midwife and she said if they get regular or if my waters break to call her. She said it could just be "irritable uterus" or something?
Just freaking out that this might really be it coz Spencer has gone away & his stupid cellphone is "out of service" Grrrrr!
And I'm not sure if it really is something to worry about coz last time I was in labour I couldn't really feel it until it was established

Ohhh Phone your midwife back. Thats what she gets the big bucks for and tell her that youd like her to come and check you now please. At least then it will put your mind at rest. And if you are in labour you will have someone there. All the best. Let us know

Hey everyone,
Firstly - *HUGS* for you Toni, I know we've been chatting, but you know I'm here for you !!
For all you other ladies, I've made her promise to keep me up to speed via txt or phone call, and if this is really IT will let you know.
I'm heading out for a little bit, but as far as I'm aware Toni has hopped in the tub to help with the pain, has a friend over to watch Alex, and the midwife is on her way over to check on her.

I had irritable uterus with Josiah. What that means, is that you have a whole lot of irregular contractions that don't do anything as far as bringing on actual labour goes (the contractions don't have any effect on the cervix).
Not trying to worry you, but during the three weeks my irritable uterus carried on I did not get a show... I second what Maria said - call your midwife back and get her to check you over. My midwife came out to my place at least twice a week during that three week period, and she always told me to ring her again if I needed to. That's what she's there for!
We're thinking of you. Keep us updated... and good luck contacting Spencer!

Good luck Toni! Sounds like you may get your VBAC sooner than expected! I'm glad that the midwife is coming to check you out - that's her job, and it will put your mind at rest!

Ok so the midwife came and as far as I know Toni has dilated 1cm, but hasn't really progressed since then - she said she was feeling pretty exhausted already (from worry) and was going to try and sleep. Reminded her that she can ring or txt me whenever she wants, so if I get more news I promise I'll come straight here to update again

LOL Yes BUT it actually looks like I already have another update, just got a further txt from Toni (who got up to put Alex to sleep - her friend was having trouble), and looks like it was a false alarm She thinks maybe it is irritable uterus after all, so I told her that I hope it makes it's mind up sooner rather than later ! But like I said, if it decides to start up again I'll let you all know as soon as I hear anything, mind you I think Toni will update this herself if she has the time / energy tomorrow

Drat! I was hoping something was happening for her! Toni, you have my fullest sympathies if it does turn out you've got irritable uterus!
Trying not to be the bearer of bad(ish) news... apparently 2nd/whatever time mums are dilated 1cm to begin with... something to do with the cervix being slightly stretched so stays slightly open. Doesn't affect bubs or the pregnancy though.

Morning ladies. I had quite a rough night last night. Everything stopped & started & just drove me mad & Alex must have known something was wrong because he played up soooooooo bad
Midwife arrived to check on me at 8 this morning & still only 1cm and like Becca said its not unusual to be 1cm dilated after a first baby apparently. She did say it's not quite usual since I had c-section but I'm not really getting my hopes up.
Still haven't managed to get a hold of Spencer or any of the people he is with so I've pretty much given up on that. My mum is driving down from Auckland to see me & I might go back up with her but I'm not sure.
So basically no news except it looks like I have the "irritable uterus" thing going on. And bubs is posterior so my back is of course killing me.
Sorry for all the drama, just very fed up & tired right now.
