Lol Am I the only one that DOESN'T buy into this holiday crock or seem phased?
Never ever ever have I had a 'valentine' or love interest during or around this holiday ....nor does it bug me one bit? Relationships, men ...they're all overrated!

Nope, not a fan of Valentines day here, either.
DH are going out tomorrow night, but only cos it's the first time we've been able to go out together in months.
Bad timing
But thanks Clare

Thing that makes me soooooo mad.....
Ex and I were of the whole "Valentines is a crock" belief....
But now he has a 24 year old Indian Princess to share it with, suddenly its all important.....
Bitter much....

valentines day is a load of crap! but hey, i'm using it as an excuse for a night away from the kids! but if i hadn't of organised it, it would just be like any other sat night.........i'm actually thinking i'd rather stay in a motel by myself for the night and leave DH to babysit

BTW I don't buy into the commercialism of Valentines day either. St Valentine was a real life saint who used to help the martyrs who were being persecuted under roman rule. He was apprehended and when he refused to renounce his faith he was beaten with clubs and beheaded on 14th Feb - how romantic
He is the patron saint of love, young people and happy marriages.

Awww, thanks Jo
Just taking a moment.... feeling a little on the bitter side.....
Had to put back some fruit at the supermarket today cos not enough money, yet ex can take new girlfriend to romantic Waiheke getaway without so much as a flinch at what his son is missing out on....
Very humbling to not be able to afford a couple of peaches for your son.....

Aw, that sucks hun! Then again, looking at it a different way you're pretty lucky you're no longer with a selfish bastard who doesn't have a problem splashing out hundreds of $$$ of some young floozy without giving a second thought to spending time with his son (let alone money).

DH has abandoned me and the twinsies for a weekend scuba diving across the cook strait.
Just as well we never bothered doing anything for the hallmark occasion anyway

I loathe valentines day as well.
I reckon I'd almost be offended if DH bought me flowers on the 14th!
I hate being told by marketing departments that 'today you shall show your affection for your loved one, and the only appropriate way to do that is by spending lots of money.' blech. Whatever happened to spontaneity?

I have a DF, but will get nothing for Valentines - so am Valentinesless as well!! But I don't mind, he shows his love for me in lots of other ways....like bringing me a Milo in bed every morning...going up to the service station every Saturday morning JUST to buy me a newspaper...and telling me he loves me just because. I'm happy with that

JoshieRocks that really sucks and I'm sorry that that happened to you, but all the time and love I suspect you give Joshua is worth more than allthe peaches in the world! at the end of the day thats what he will remember... and you do have a valentines... you have Joshua, without all the commercialism- its meant to be a day to share love, while I'm sure you do that everyday, just keep that in mind.
As for your ex- I'm sure he will pay for it in the long run. When I grew up me and my mum were in the same situation as it sounds you and Joshua are in, my dad had his "new" family, buying flash pressies for his new kids while I was in cheaper versions of their stuff and second hand versions, trust me I know who I apprecaite more . Take care, Happy Valentines
