Topic: Anyone want a laugh? Posted: 22 June 2006 at 3:13pm |
I thought you might like this, for a laugh!
Some of you know that I have been suffering a temp (hired to fill the role of a junior staff member, as my support person) at work at the moment. She's been with us a month, and she's exceptionally thick (she's about 30 too which is astonishing!). This is causing me some interesting difficulties insofar as holding my temper goes, as I am not one to suffer fools, nor do I take prisoners as a rule.
An incident that just took place in our office:
Temp "Is there anything you want me to do?"
Me "Uh...I don't really have anything, no. You could pack up the paper recycling though - it has to go out tonight, and needs to be packed into boxes" (bearing in mind that she has so far refused to put the rubbish out, pack up the recycling, do the dishes, do the banking ...)
A few minutes later I walk into the room where the recycling is piled up for Africa, and there she is, merrily throwing it all in the rubbish bin.
Me "What are you doing?"
Temp "The recycling"
Me "That's the rubbish bin"
Temp - looks at the rubbish bin, looks confused, then looks at me and says "Don't they sort it?"
Me - extremely patiently, I thought "Noooo. That's why it's the rubbish bin. We put rubbish in it, and the recycling out separately. No one sorts it. Remember how I said that the recycling gets packed into boxes?"
Temp "Oh"
I then watched as she started packing the recycling into boxes, and thought to myself "Hallelujah!".
THEN she turns around and holds up an out of date directory that was to be recycled and saaays....
Temp "This is a book"
Me "Yes. It's a directory. It's out of date, so we're putting it in the paper recycling"
Temp "But it's a book"
Me "Yes. An out of date book. Trust me. Just put it in the recycling."
Temp "Oh. Ok" AND THEN SHE THROWS IT IN THE RUBBISH BIN!!
Me "I said, it's to be recycled! It's paper - so, it goes with the paper that you're packing up. That's why it was in the pile of paper recycling."
Temp "Oh, yeah" and laughs.
I then gave up and went back to my office because it is really not worth the stress.
What I am most surprised about is the fact that she's not currently in the rubbish bin herslef, because I was extremely close to stuffing her in it!!

That is classic, you have to wonder about people these days and their ways of thinking - some are very strange.

Ok ...here's another story then, since y'all liked the last one!! This one is from this morning ...
(Background - We are using a temporary letterhead at the moment, so the letterhead is a text box on a letter precedent)
Temp - looking at a 2 page letter on her computer screen "Which tray is follow on paper?"
Me "What do you mean, follow on paper?"
Temp "You know - good paper for printing letters"
Me "Oh. Tray 4."
Tempt "No. What tray for FOLLOW ON paper?"
Me "Tray 4."
Temp "No it's not"
Me "Uh ...yes, it is."
Temp "No, it's different paper"
Me "Seriously. No. It's not."
Temp "But the first page is on different paper"
Me "What?"
Temp "The first page is letterhead, so the other pages are different paper to letterhead"
Me - after taking such a deep breath I almost passed out "See how, when you look at your computer screen you can see the letterhead?"
Temp "Yes"
Me "That means that the letterhead is on your screen, not on the paper that you print onto. It's a text box on the page."
Temp "Oh"
Me "So print all the pages from tray 4"
Heavens above!
I wonder if she realises she's an idiot?

If only the central North Island roads weren't closed Paws .... she'd probably go looking for them, and I'd be shot of her early!!
Millie1976 ....I have no idea. And I'm not entirely sure I want to think too hard about it, for fear of discovering that there are more of them where she came from!
