Topic: tattoo ideas Posted: 05 July 2006 at 10:27pm |
I know a lot of people dont like tattoos but since I had such luck asking you ladies for baby names I thought I would test you all on tattoo ideas.
Now that we have had all the children we are planning on I want to get a tattoo done sort of as a tribute to my babies. I was thinking maybe hand or/and foot prints but not sure how I would place them or possibly include an angel somehow for the twins we lost but not to sure about that. Emma I know you have the hand or footprints (still waiting for pics by the way hehe) has anyone else seen or have any cool ideas?

My brother got a handprint done when his daughter was born, it is sooooo cute. I think he just did a print onto paper and took it in to the tattooist, and they made a transfer to put on his arm for tattooing it on.

It's not the best pic coz I had to take it myself but...
It's her newborn handprint with Maya Grace along the top and her date of birth underneath. When she is a bit older they will copy the lines off her hand into it, but her hand needs to be big enough to get the definition.
I will probably do the same with the twins, but I might link their hands in some way with both their names and the one birthdate. But will have to go on my back as I've run out of room on my arms.

Oh, and I want to get a small angel for the baby we lost with the date, but separate to the ones for the other kids. Just need the $$$.

That's really nice Emma! My brother's one is a little different, it's like an ink-print of her handprint on his arm, so its got all the little lines and wrinkles. Apparently it took ages, eek!

that is very cool Emma. I think Im going to have to get this one on my lower back because it will be to big for anywhere else and I dont really want one on my shoulder blade. I might just get a wee angel next to my other ones for the twins. DH wants to get a lion protecting two cubs and the kids names, that is going to take ages, and lots of money Im guessing!

One of my friend's DP's has their daughters face on his arm when she was about 3-ish. My friend is preg again so I don't know where he's going to put the new bubs lol.
Mel - I originally wanted like an ink-print but the lady that tattooed it said that it would look too 'hard' and that the outline would look better. When they add in the lines later on they will probably fill it in a lighter color like pink or something around the shading.
I can recommend Rob Krause in Auckland, the guy is a real westie but his work is brilliant. He didn't do my handprint, I had that done at Eurotattoo, but he has done 3 of my four other tatts.

When i was looking on the net last night someone said they had the handprint done in pink with the lines in a lighter pink but unfortunately they didnt have a picture. Sounds cool but Im not sure if I want colour or plain black. I think I would like Addisons feet and Kobes hands, not sure if it would look funny though

I have a tattoo already but I love the idea of getting a new one for my baby girl when she is born... will start thinking about how I can do that... although I like the hand idea I think I would like something smaller as I already have quite a big one...
maybe initials and a date, um no thats not really anythig special is it? Dunno...will have to think about it...

I dont want a big one but if I did it with Addisons footprints now they would only be about 4cm high I think so thats not to big.

Is prob more girly than anyone with boys is looking for though really, but kewl idea for those with girls. Found this pic a while ago when looking on the web for tat's i wanted.. waaaaay before having kids, and stole it cos it's the one i want, even more so now so i can stick the girls's names near the end butterflies, and it means that IF IF IF i ever had any more kids i could add them too (seriously don't think that would happen).
