Topic: Natural MS remedies Posted: 17 March 2010 at 7:41pm |
I'm very reluctant to go down the medicated route with MS this time given what happened with Jared.. but me and MS become very well aquainted until I'm about 20w and thats a long time to feel like sh*t. I'm already over it and I've only just started 12 more weeks of feeling like this knowing its going to get worse is depressing at best.
So I'm trying to find every natural remedy I can in hopes it will help a bit..
So far I got:
- seabands
- naturopharm nauseamed which is nearly empty and I'll get the morningmed relief one next time
- blackmores ginger and B6
Are there any others?
I'm already doing the eat little and often thing and sticking to foods that agree with me and I suck on barley sugars pretty much all night cause it helps while they are in my mouth.

what about acupuncture? I haven't tried it, but have heard other people who have had good success with it.
Also apparentely the earlier you start it, the better.
good luck, MS sucks especially when you have a toddler to look after.

I didn't know that about the earlier you start accupuncture the better. Might have to check that out tomorrow as I believe someone at the mw clinic does it.
Daniel already gets grumpy during the day cause I can't do the things he wants me to do

Mint imperials are helpful as a variation on the barley sugars :-)

thats what my MW told me. I only really found out about it when I was 12 weeks and my MW said she didn't think there was much point in starting it then.
I found Ella went through that stage, but then she got pretty good at entertaining herself so it actually worked out pretty well because now she is quite happy to play by herself.

Ewww mint, I'm not a big mint person
Daniel is great at entertaining himself but he likes playing chasing games with mummy and daddy over the last couple of months with hide n go seek added in and running around the house with a bloated nauseated tummy isn't cool.

no, I imagine that isn't that fun. There have been times over the past couple of weeks that I swear chasing after Ella was going to put me into early labour

Oh no Stacey :(
Is choc milk helping this time??
With Caden I found salty things helped a bit, but other than that nothing, I just felt sick no matter what.
With Bella(as you know) I drank choc milk like crazy and used the morningmed spray(i still sue that stuff for any nausea i get!).
*hugs* I hope you can find some relief hun

I drank a lot of choc milk too
But I also found crushing up some fresh ginger and putting it in one of those infusers you put in your mug, with hot water helped. I just sipped it. And gingernuts! yum!!
Hope it doesn't last too long.

I used 'preggie pops' and 'preggie pop drops' from a place called Nature Baby . . . FANTASTIC! Natural and drug free and worked a treat.

Accupuncture is awesome but it does take a couple of times to kick in.
Hope it helps

I liked chocolate milk, and also sour gummy lollies like sour worms, sour apple rings etc. They really seemed to help.
It's so the pits when you are kinda hungry, but a lot nauseous and you can't bring yourself to eat cos you're scared you'll see it again...
For the record, I found tomato based pastas were good on the way down and not too bad on the way up compared to some other foods!!

Oh yeah Rachel I remember what tomato based anything is like on the way back up. But at the moment tomato based anything seems to stay nicely in my tum.
Kel - what does it taste like? I'm very weary of putting gross stuff in my mouth

Didn't work for me - but I heard that dry crackers, eaten in bed, before you even lift yuor head off the pillow can really work.
I see you have seabands - although it didn't take it away entirely it was the best thing for me.
(BTW - I am so happy to see you are expecting again! )

I found the preggie pops from Egg quite good (apart from the ginger ones – they made my MS worse!). There's also a MS herbal tea you can get. I haven't tried it but I drink a heartburn tea by the same brand which works really well.
