Topic: I dont believe it!! Posted: 30 November 2006 at 9:23pm |
I started AND finished all our Christmas Shopping for the family and spent under $100 (not including pressies for hubby and I and Maddie).
That is the first time ever I have been that organised and now we do not have to set foot inside a mall crowded by the Christmas rush with people jostling and shoving etc...
Darn it feels good!

I am the same Paws. My sister came and met me at work the other day and we went on a lunch time mission. Was stoked it is finished (except for her, but she is easy this year). As she owed me money I only spent $90 and she still owes me $20 (we go halves in everything as it is easier).
I was actually really stressing about it this year for some reason, and am so pleased to have it all done and uot the way!

I have a few things to get, but have everything for the kids, apart from the stocking stuffers and something small for taine from Santa at the playcentre party. went to pak n save yesterday and got Jake this really huge cool car from santa - only $10!!!!! I was so impressed. they had really neat little farm and construction sets too. i would've loved to get one for Taine but the pieces were all too small. That said, he puts stones, bark, sticks in his nouth no probolem. what does he coak on howver? a sandwich@@@
anyway, good on ya Paws. Sure you won't go on down to the warehouse on dec 24tH?

perhaps you could stand outside the door to the warehouse and laugh at all the others that have left it till the last minute.
I will admit to planning to hit the boxing day sales however, almost as neurotic at times I think!

I have 5 more pressies to go and I know what I am getting. Gosh I would love to spend under $100 but with a family as big as ours its too hard. Daniel is from a family of 6 kids (all with partners and 6 nieces and nephews) and 3 kids in my family (all with partners).

Inlaws are the worst to buy for, they have everything they need and when I have given them vouchers in the past, they take ages to use them!!

I've started and had great intentions of having finished by now, but no such luck. Hoping to go out later today if Amelia is still ok after her jabs yesterday. Otherwise will do some up in Akl next w/end. I have a list of what I want, so shouldn't be too hard. Can't imagine HOW you managed to spend less than $100 though! Phew!

We managed to find good presents for J & P though of course now I'm fretting over whether or not they will like them.
Have you done the SS shopping yet?

We did the majority of our shopping in one hit at twh because we got a suppliers discount evening - then I finished all but one Xmas/Bday pressie which i still have to go (and what to get!!??) at the shop next door to mine - again discount!!
I totally blew my budget, was only gonna spend about $20 - $30 on each family member until I found a swimming pool for my sister (only $45 for me and originally $100), a very cool Christmas Angel for mum (she loves that stuff $35 for me) and best of all - an rc yacht for dad (hmmm $90... budget blown!!)
Was a bit better buying for my cousin's kids ($5 each) and my grand parents ($40 a pair) and of course we do a family present draw so there's a $20 limit, I spent $20.
Austin and Adam cost a few hundred.
Darn it WHY won't I stick to my present budget!

I'm about halfway but I'm going easy on the older family members this year - vouchers all the way! So I really have little to buy other than vouchers. In saying that though, there will be movie vouchers, garden vouchers, Warehouse vouchers, Whitcoulls vouchers....
We couldn't get our shopping under $100 either. Another big family here: Dad, Mum, 6 bro's, 3 sisters (one married); then DH has two bros both married, one with a baby, and a sister.... then us
