Topic: due dates Posted: 11 April 2007 at 1:57pm |
my due date from my LMP is 23/11/07 (LMP was 16/2/07)
on my ultrasound they have it as 20/11/07.
how common is it to have a due date from an ultraound that is earlier than one from your LMP.
I hope that makes sense

Well my doc worked out going from my LMP that I was due 23rd October and then at the scan it said due date was 31st October! The scan date is the one that my midwife has taken as correct. Guess all will be confirmed again next week at my 12 weeks scan!
Don't know if that helps you or not!

i think most of us would say thats normal
my scan dates differed by my dates by almost 10days...and my days were right..
oh and the further along you are the less reliable the scan dates are as they are taken on a national average.
i would go on the lmp date but just know that you may go early

Oh god really Kazzle, I have this funny feeling that I am further along than what the scan says!
I don't even know why I think this, its just a "feeling" I have

Mine was way out. By my guessing of when my LMP was I thought I would be due about Feb 14th. The scan said 23rd Feb and as that was the earliest scan and I was iffy on my dates we had to take that date. I refused to and at my 20 week scan they had an EDD of 16th of Feb. So I took that one. When Josh was born (funny enough on what I thought my due date was) he was early to the hospital dates and was 9lb 4oz and didn't look like as early baby (apart from a bit of vernix).

Yeah, I'm a bit suss about mine too. My dates from my LMP were 5/8/07 and I was 100% sure of when I ovulated but then my 12 week scan put me back 9 days to 14/8/07. i brought this up with my MW who said you can ovulate twice so the dates might be right but also she said if they work on the later date and bubs is overdue, when they come to induce it will definately be cooked whereas if they work off the early date and then induce it could be too early.
i figure the dates are a joke anyway and bubs will come when he/she is good and ready. i just hope it is in August and my gut feeling is that bubs wont be much after 14th.

I am 100% sure of my dates as there was only one time that it could have possibly have been and my EDD from that is the 24th of May, but my scan dates are around the 16th of May, which is also consistent with when I see the midwife, as she always measures me at about 2-3 weeks ahead of the 24th of May. I am really sure on my dates, but I guess I could be wrong. Everyone has said just to stick to the 24th, so that's what I'm doing. So who knows, I could be nearly 36 weeks instead of nearly 34 weeks.

my scan dates both times have been ahead of cycle dates. with haleigh my dates went form 29 sept to the scan showing 26th and she arrived on the 29th.
this time my cycle is 29th june, first scan showed 23rd and 2nd scan showed 19th.
so its normal for the scan to change the dates.
the dates are only a guide anyway noone knows when a bubs is going to arrive

The early scan is your most accurate. An LMP date presumes a normal cycle with a 14 day ov, not as common as you think. The early scan, often called the dating scan is the one the MW would usually like to go by. Also by having the slighly later date it means that you might not be rushed into induction so quickly (though many would say that is a good thing!)
My EDD dates (so far!) are as follows:
LMP - 14 June
Charting - 20 June
Scan 1 - 24 June
Scan 2 - 22 June
Scan 3 - 18 June
We have goine with the 22 June as it is midway between my charting date and the first scan date so seemd a good compromise.

My 1st son was:
02/12/04 (LMP)
13/12/04 (scan dates)
24/12/04 (actual birthday)
This time my LMP and scan dates are the same lol.
27/06/07 (LMP)
27/06/07 (Scan)

Megan a scan dating difference of just 3 days would be seen by many as "confirmation" of your dates because it's so close.

My LMP due date was the 28th May but I ovulated later in my cycle (day 18) so I thought it would be the 1st of June. The Dr went by my LMP but then my scan dates showed the 1st June and then the 31st May 2 weeks later- after I talked with the midwife we decided to make it 1st of June and keep it there as both my earliest scan and O date pointed to it. I wanted to have it changed as I would like to avoid being induced and if I wind up being late then it gives me an extra 4 days to go into labour naturally.

Mine are out every time. I've had a range of 2 weeks that I could be "due in". But my doc has said go for the furtherest away one because it sucks to be overdue lol. And then the midwife said to stick with the original date because as you get further along it's more likely to change depending on if bubs is gonna be big or little.

its normal for due dates to vary. as Stacey said, once over the 7 - 8 week mark, genetics takes over so measurements of baby will dictate what your apparent due date would be during the scan. before the 7/8 wk mark most babies follow the same developmental path so those early scans are usually more accurate at picking the real due date going by what stage of development the baby is at.
Paris was due the 14th of August, and came on the 5th, i knew i wouldn't make it that long. Ayja was due in June, and came in May.. i had been telling everyone my due date was the last week in may. and it was. lol. she was smaller, but not "prem" like at all. behaved like a normal full term baby.

From my dates I was due on 24 March, then first scan (one midwife went with) 3 APril (5weeks), second scan 31 March (12weeks), can't remember 3rd scan dates, and on Tues when I had my 41 week scan it said baby was due on 18 April!! Almost a month out from my dates - but def. not taking any notice of that one as otherwise I was only 3 weeks preggers during first scan!

my first baby and my pregancy now my dates all matched up. but my middle baby dates were all out when i went for my scan thay said i was two weeks out on my dates so thay went on my scan dates emma ended up coming two weeks later than my scan dates and 4 weeks later than my lmp dates, so if i had gone on my lmp dates thay would have induced me for sure.

My midwife told me that they usually go by your 12 week scan date. My due date was 26th October and the scan date said 23rd October - I was booked in to have C-section on 24th October and I went into natural labour on 23rd October but ended up having C-section because of breech position.

My LMP due date was 28/04. First scan showed 7/05 and the 4 since have shown between 28/04 - 02/05.
The m/w decided we would go with 02/05 as it is in the middle and the baby is already measuring est. 7 pounds and that was a week ago!
I don't think there is much of a hassle if your dates are only 3 days different. It's only a real concern if you are way out and an induction becomes an issue later on.

Hi there. The scans go by measurements of the size of your baby and can sometimes change.
