Ok, its been going on too long now and Icant work out what is causing it but my arm pits and just down the inside of my arm are SOOOOOOOO itchy. No itchy hands feet etc though just the arm pits.

My MW thought I might be reacting to deodorant so suggested I try this crystal thing....still itchy. they are worse morning or night and it doesnt matter what I wear.

There is also a little rash. I thought at first it was from shaving but itextends past the shaved area.

any ideas? More importantly any cures????????? before I scratch myself to pieces. I have noticed the area has become skin tag city, if that has anything to do with it???

I got this and its a reaction to your deoderant, I started off with it jsut being a little itchy then all of a suddern it started getting real red and turned into a rash.
I foudn Im allergic to Nivea and Aqueous cream when Im pregnant.
The nivea pearl deoderant is what caused the rash so I ahd to go back to rexona seems to be the only one that doesnt cause a rash.
I also cant use their creams or anything when Im pregnant along with the aqueous cream as they caused a rash on my hands which is only starting to clear up now.
but my rash under my arms cleared up within a few weeks after I stopped using the deoderant,.

I found an aloe vera cream/ baby oil relieves the itch I put it on at night before I went to bed,

Thanks, I normally use the Rexona hypoallergenic one My MW recommmended this crystal you moisten but they were still itchy. I wonder if it is a)soap, or b) sweat. Today I didnt use soap on my underarms (and that felt SOOOOOO wrong) and then I tried baby powder to dry them out and so far they feel okayish!!!! I hope it is just a matter of a few days break from something to settle down.

I'll keep elliminating as I go along.

Interesting, this has happened to me as well, and after I started using NIVEA pearl as well. I've never had a problem with any of their other products. Ouchies!!

why not try a baby soap, it has no added perfumes etc in it. baby powder can irritate it but it can help.
do you use spray or roll on?
sprays can be quite harsh on the skin compared to roll ons sometimes??

Over the last couple of weeks I have had incredibly itchy armpits, arms, legs, stomach, shoulders etc and I suspect it is due to a new type of washing powder than DH bought. This probably doesn't help you out though as the problem is only restricted to your armpits.

I also suffer from a little bit of eczema from time to time and find that using alternative products instead of soap can offer some relief. There is a product called Pinetarsol which you buy from the chemist. It smells pretty horrid but is better on your skin than soap when you're particularly itchy.

Best of luck, being itchy is so annoying especially when DH tells me to stop itching. If only it was that easy!

Well, the itching seems to be getting better (touchwood) I havent done anything special. I went back to my normal deodarant as I noticed they were still itchy after a shower or bath at night and I dont reapply deodorant then so maybe it is soap related. We havent got any new soaps to try yet but I use as little as poss and rinse really really well. Who knows....one of those pregnancy things we can never explain.

8 weeks to go so I guess I can put up with these things a little longer....then I am sure itchy armpits will be the last thing on my mind.

Sally belly, I wonder about washing powder too and thought maybe under my armpits has closer contact than anywhere else (although I can think of another area that should get itchy and thankfully is not-mind you I use a panty liner there so???) Might change back to Ecostore and see.

Hey

I got really itchy palms with a rash and read it was hormonal due to being pregnant and changed my soap to a chemist stuff for a while, a waxy non soap kinda stuff. So maybe it is not really your deoderant but just a hormonal thing. My itchy palms have been gone now for a while so hopefully your armpits will settle down. But know what you mean about going nuts with itchyness - drives you bonkers - use to wake myself up itchy my palms at nite!!

I'm going to see my MW this afternoon and I plan on asking her about the itching. I have just about scratched myself raw

Will let you know what she says. I did wonder too if it was a hormonal thing??? I've got a long road ahead if it is!

Well I saw my MW and she thinks the rash is hormonal and suggested putting some tea tree oil on it. So I've bought some and will give it a go tonight.

Be careful with using tea tree oil - I have heard conflicting info about whether its safe to use in pregnancy or not. I think if your midwife suggested it then I wouldnt worry!

I was having problems with itchy legs, and found rubbing pure aloe vera gel on really helped. It was a bit sticky until you absorb it - but really helped!
