Topic: How do you post.... Posted: 06 July 2007 at 7:00pm |
In the forums? Do you only go to subjects that interest you or do you go thru all and have a read and post were you can offer advice/support? Or do you have other reasons for where and when you post? Just randomly wondering. As for me I go everywhere and post all over the place hence why I have so many posts and havent been here long lol!!! I do feel tho that I have made loads of new friends and have a safe place where I can come and chat, rant and rave till the cows come home without judgement !!!

I always use the Active Topics so I only see topics with new posts. I try and post everywhere cos there are lots of ladies that only go in the preggy boards, but sometimes theres just way too many to read, so usually just go for general, first child..., and our due in feb thread.
However, Friday night is when I spend hours on here and catch up everywhere!

I lurk around here all the time, I am cyber stalking you all....
I wish! No, I actually rush around reading posts that interest me as fast as I can in between wrangling children and doing 'real' work (aka writing) and rely on PM's from other people to keep me up to date with things that need stickying, things that need mod imput etc.
Coz this is my job, but it's also my leisure time too, I heart my job

It depends on the time of day. Times like now I will post anywhere and everywhere, but when Josh is awake and I only have a small amount of time I usually just lurk, then come back and post.

I generally browse just a few of the topics and only occassionaly look outside of those and post. If I didn't do that then I'd never get anything else done

Depends on how much time I've got (not a lot). I always display the Active Topics but I tend to look at certain areas only eg I hardly post in the pregnancy section unless something really grabs my attention. And I also tend to lurk more than post

I have a few 'usual' ones I go and have a read in. I agree with the above, I tend to lurk more than post. And more often than not, I type out a post and then think 'oh nahhh, I won't say that' or I think too much and analyse my reply and then think it's too stupid/corny/TMI/optimistic/pessimistic/objective/subjective etc etc and delete it all and go read something else

LOL Kirsten - I do exactly the same thing when replying - the exact same thing. I actually did that when I started replying to this thread earlier on. Silly.
I do try to reply to all the photo threads and to general ones - even just to lend my support or send out hugs to people. I also try to welcome all the new babies.

Yep! I do that too! And I'm quite afraid to post in some forums (like the infertility one) in case I offend someone (without meaning to of course).

I go to active topics (and often forget the photos, only go there about once a week to 10 days?)... and click the titles that interest me, I don't usually go into the month segregated topics.... I also check out anything that didn't interest me but has now turned a page (usually means that they're talking about something completely different now ). I lurk in the TTC boards, I'm learning about charting but I'm not TTC and I certainly don't understand anything about infertility - but I follow those people's progress with sympathy and all that, just don't usually have the words.
Sometimes I see a ranty topic and think, hmmm I don't have the time/sympathy for that right now, I'll come back to it.
The best thing is that we can open in tabs so I flick through active topics and open all the interesting ones in tabs, then close each of those tabs once I have read/responded to them. Then if I'm still bored/awake, I'll refresh active topics LOL... and that's when I find Bombshell, still awake at 9.30pm

I'm all over the place too, but I usually use the active topics just so that I don't spend too long trawling through every post
