Topic: Super mega uber nasty flu Posted: 21 August 2007 at 1:57pm |
So who's had this, apparently it has been going around and it's a real nasty one this year.
I must just say it sucks seriously, has had me knocked flat since saturday evening, coupled with a chest infection. Finally get to the docs yesterday and he's put me off work for the rest of the week which, well, is absolutely fine by me, i had already taken both weekend night shifts off, and gave me some nice pills to take to help with the flu symptoms (you know, the type you need photo id for).. however, while those definately help me get sleep..ie i have hardly set foot outta bed for more than 5 mins in the last 24 hours, lol they also give the illusion i am walking a few feet off the ground and like everything is double vision or slow-motion. lol you know like on tv when they have someone drunk or whatever and they wave their hand in front of them and they see the outlines etc.. kinda like that.
Lol, sparked the conversation with mike last night that sheesh, is this is what i feel like after 2 tablets of that stuff, how on earth can the buzz be considered "great" by those that take it once it's been concentrated down and cut with whatever to make drugs? I mean seriously, how can people like feeling like that?! lol
On a positive note, lol, have not been able to eat much at all over the last few days he he.. although this is definately not the way i thought i would loose weight.
kinda glad that mike had all his sickness a week ago, so he's paying me pack now by doing everything like i did last week, so sweet.

I've always wondered that too Janine - I so don't get the attraction of P.
Hope you are feeling better soon, and keeping your germs to yourself.

Big hugs Janine. My mum and sister both had it when I was in Oz and were bedridden with it, and Mum is usually so staunch, it takes a lot to knock her down.

Very lucky Mike got it first, so it is fresh in his memory how to care or a sick person. In our house I got it first, then got an apology for not gtting much help/sympathy after DH got it!
Hope you are feeling better soon

That flu hit Andrew's preschool and it wasn't nice. He has only just gone back today (after having a week and a bit off). Hope you get better soon.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

my daughter had the sickness bug going around - high temp and vomitting, then when that finished she had a ultra sore throat and cried when she swallowed - went to dr and he thinks it strep throat so sent a swab off for tests and 10 days AB.
Hope you feel better soon - horrible when you feel like Sh#t. As for the drugs - yeah never saw the point of making you feel all out of it - they should just spin round for a couple of minutes and there you have the buzz right there LOL

Oh you poor thing Janine! Get better soon!
There's a 40-day cough thing going around as well, when I was on teaching practice we had around 12 kids away each day out of 30, and most were away for 1-2 weeks. The bad thing is, it seems to hit a lot of people 2-3 times, I'm on my 2nd run in 3 weeks, so I'm hoping that's it!
And then there's the tummy bug that seems to be going around down here. A lot of businesses and schools are suffering from the combination of these. Ick!
Make sure to make the most of Mike looking after you, its great he's such a wonderful support

Yeah, Mikes had a cough for around 4 weeks or more now, but that was it, just the cough, i think i picked up the flu from ayja's daycare - apparently the daycare teachers are dropping like flies.
