Has anyone had to move their child from one kindy to another, we are moving soon and going country so not practical to keep Braedon at his kindy in town the plus side is that he recently went on the burger buggy for a visit to the new kindy he will be going too so he will be familiar with it and it is close to where his dad works, my only major concern is that he has made a really great friend and formed other friendships and I hope this is not going to be too stressfull for him, he seems to make friends easy so I'm not sure why I am concerned, just hoping he does not got through a clingy stage as he norm goes a bit funny after each round of school holidays and takes a while to settle... sorry long winded ...

He should be fine esp since he sounds like he already has good social skills being able to make friends easy. My older daughter changed kindys when she was young and she merged fine from one to the next. Goodluck and I hope he enjoys his new kindy

I agree with Kels. Kiya changed kindys when we moved from Hamilton to Ohakune, and she adjusted well. She has good social skills, and it sounds like Braedon has also, so don't worry. If it helps him (and you) organise playdates with his close friend so that he can keep that connection.

we changed xanthe to a new kindy in may, as we were able to get her into one that was within walking distance to us then. she made a seamless changeover, in fact the teachers were impressed at how she handled it. she had the experience of being at kindy to know what a typical routine is like there, so she adapted really quickly.

the only thing i was sad about is she was just starting to make some little friends, but she has settled in well at her new one, and it is starting to happen now, making new friends. she isnt a very outgoing wee girl, so takes time to warm to kids. but she has been perfectly happy from day one of the new kindy. i am sure braedon will take it all in his stride, and be fine.

Thanks for sharing Lyla, nice to hear some positive stories. We went for a visit this morning before kindy started so there were no kids there and he just played happily with the trains, LOL

If he is going to Toko Kindy then he will fine. They are great out there (I have just been to one of their fundraisers) and he will settle in fine.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Chloe had to change kindys when we moved, she got a little but upset because she missed her friends but I just stayed with her for the first day and after that she was fine. They usually see it as an exciting change rather than a scary one so it should go really well.

Happy to report that the kindy move has gone very smoothly and I had nothing to be worried about, he started last thurs and I stayed with him for an hour mostly talking to the teacher and just watching him told him I was gonna go home for a while and pick him up at lunch time and he was like ok bye! LOL and the next day he was just as good just dropped him off and said goodbye so yay for us!
