Hi,

Just wanting to know your opinions about your 1 year old opening his birthday gifts...

Jaxon is having his party at Lollipops PLayland and I am unsure whether or not after he has opened his presents, would you put them away or would you just open them and take apart for them all to play with...

I thought putting away would be good for when Jaxon gets home but then would it be mean to do that and all the other babies will want to play with them especially since it was from them, lol...

There are older children there too that might play with them and they would get broken..

If we were at home I think it would be different...

What do you think???

I would probably open them all up and just have someone there discreetly putting them away while he is opening the next. Things will get lost and wrecked not so much with the kids at the party but any other random kids around.

I agree too, most people i know, and what we have always done, is open then as they are given.. ie as people arrive, then if we are at home they are taken up to the girl's room for safe keeping, cards put on display. Most places like lollipops and maccas can supply a table for gifts to go on, in which case you can either stack em there or once all opened have hubby go and stick em out in the car.. again depends on if they're safer in the building under your watch or out in the car.

I agree with Robyn, things do tend to get misplaced or not played with as carefully as you might wish if they are opened for everyone to handle. Most people are more than happy for you to put the gifts away so that you can open then in a time and place more acceptable for your wee man to thoroughly enjoy them in his own way and time. and for the kids at this age, they do tend to be more interested in the paper, but it sets up good routines for later birthdays. Also, most parties keep kids more than entertained without them needing to play with the new pressies.

Probably you'll end up doing most of the unwrapping anyway I would also pack them into the car asap; unwrap them so people can see but don't unpackage etc until you are at home. Then you can keep your two eyes and not need extra

I would either put it aside and let him open it towards the end. Or like the others suggested as he opens one gift take the ones that is opened away to the side in a box to take home ect.
