At night I am currently use a fuzzi + two inserts + hemp insert, and it does the trick - however I only have 1 hemp insert, so it's kind of every third night in cloth (the other in 'sposies'). And then it seems every time I do that Laura decides to dirty her nappy at the dream feed so ends up in sposies then!!!

So apart from getting some more inserts, including hemp I need to buy some more nappies - as can't quite get to full-time cloth yet, and wondered what everyone else recommends for night-time MCNs, so I can add these to the pile

I've been using fuzzis on Kryssi since she was about 4mos (couldn't fit smalls until then) and I did her in 2 inserts and a booster overnight with success. She's in mediums now so it's still 2 inserts and a booster, although the inserts are longer so they will hold more. She has also just stopped feeding in the night so would be fine with only 2 inserts.

We use a large Baby Harmony nappy with a microfibre insert, folded cloth flat and a tri-folded hemp flat. She fits the medium fuzzis and baby harmony nappies during the day, but I found for the amount of stuffing she needs at night the large are better.
Mum to two gorgeous girls!

I use either a tweedle/babyharmony/fuzzi at night with a microfibre insert, a peapod insert and 2 hemp inserts. That just lasts us thru the night (12-13hrs)

Sshh Stacey! He is one heavy wetter!!!!

Thanks for all the tips ... I am wondering whether I could get away with just two microfibre inserts - she only has a dream feed during the night until 7am. Mmm... do I risk it?

Maya - my understanding is that ecobubs are wool - are they ok for the summer months? ie not too hot?

the wool is only the outer layer, over the PUL. wool is very breathable tho and i use wool covers on my boy in summer and winter.
i think now a lot of the ecobubs wool pockets are wool blends and to be honest i think their strong point is actually the insert not the pocket.

I find it's better to stuff a nappy with more than what you think you may need and then see in the morning how wet the inserts are. It's better than not stuffing it with enough and then having to change clothes in the middle of the night which wakes them right up!

So what is an ecobubs insert that makes it so special?

I use a variety but like the Ecobubs inserts - they are hemp and microfibre flats so fold to make 3 of each fabric. I use 2 of these so 6 hemp and 6 m/fibre and this is for about 10 hours with 1 or 2 feeds.
For the same length of time I have also used whichever pocket will fit all the stuffing in and have 6 layers of hemp and 3 or more of m/fibre.
Not sure what would last my boy 12 hours yet maybe same combo but without feeds?

my fave inserts are the peapod trifold ones that you get with the nappy. at night we use one of those and a prefold which lasts 12-14hrs.
my fave nappies are baby harmony, peapods and joeleze

I use a FB on Andy at night with 3 cotoured inserts in it (the four layered ones) or 3 std inserts, or 1 hemp/terri trifold and 2 inserts. All three combos last about 14+ hours. Thats with atleast 3 night feeds sometimes 4 or 5 . Oh but no combo works when DH puts the nappy on wrong .

I have tried using extra inserts in our naps and find that they tend to gape around his skinny thighs. Is this just becasue he is still little?

this happens with most naps... generally if you want to stuff more you may have to go up a size.

I fixed that problem with Han (who required a whoooole lot of stuffing at night) by adding a cover overtop of the whole thing. Worked beautifully.

Otherwise, a nappy with firmer leg elastic might be the way to go.

I stuff mine with a lot of inserts yet mine don't gape but when DH puts them on him that's a whole other story!

So sorry to thread jack, but if I wanted to put Josh into cloth over night I could put him into a petite overnight?

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

With night time nappies being so bulky it would probably be best to upsize width ways, rather than height. Petites (if we're talking about Fuzzis?) are the same width as a medium and the height of a large so I don't think you will get the desired outcome.
Perhaps try a large?

Back to night time stuffing - After giving them a REALLY good trial last night I can highly recommend the new Honey Child inserts, they hold 400mls of liquid. I put 2 large inserts in Caitlin's nappy last night and that worked a treat. So, less bulk = less chance of gaping and no need to buy hundreds of inserts!

I really really doubt Josh would fit a large, it would fall off him cause he's a skinny dude!
