Topic: 1st Birthday pressie...help? Posted: 25 September 2007 at 9:38am |
My niece is about to turn 1 and I need help? Sam is only 5 months so I have no idea what a good pressie for a 1 year old is.
Her parents are really slack so something she will have tons of fun with but maybe also get some stimulation out of would be good.
Idea please?

Maybe a push trolley? She can then walk behind at as well as putting thing into the trolley part.
Or a paddling pool?

Joshie got this cool ball machine that plays music and throws balls up in the air. He loves chasing them round the room, and got the idea immediately that you pop them back in the hole at the top.

Ashleigh is 15 months but 12 months corrected. At the moment she really seems to enjoy building/stacking things and over the last week has become obsessed with one particular doll (carries it around everywhere!) I bought my nephew some mega blocks last month for his birthday and he plays with them all the time and Ashleigh enjoys playing with them when she is there too so Santa will definately be getting her some for Xmas. You can get "girly" sets like Dora the Explorer mega block sets etc. Oh and she has an activity table that she LOVES which has lots of stimulation for her

A paddling pool would be neat (can you use the ones that come with balls for water too?)
My niece got a doll pram and pushchair, some little board books, a push along toy and some maraccas which were the hit of the party (a couple of toddlers 'fighting' over them!)

Yep, I think dolls prams are great too, and Mega blocks/Duplo, I hate the stuff coz it always ends up all over the house but Maya and all visiting kids love it.

Yeah lego quatro blocks were a real highlight for Ella on her first birthday. She still plays with them now, and Benjy loves them too!
She also got an activity table/cube and loved that for ages.

The most favourite toy I bought her on her first birthday was her pram and doll. She left all other toys when she opened that and wasnt interested in seeing what else she got. I had to open it and she barely looked at the rest.

That is going to be tough to toss up between the pram/doll & paddling pool. Thanks so much for your suggestions. I think I am leaning towards the doll/pram and maybe some blocks. After all I don't have to clean up if they end up all over my Brothers house

We got girl colour mega blocks from the warehouse for about $30. Isla loves them, and visiting older kids enjoy them too! We have fun building towers for Isla to bash down!

isn't it funny? Taine has my old doll and pushcahir and neither child was ever remotely interested, apart from taine poutting his trucks in and dragging them around. the doll was left in the garden
