Topic: Had a Scare Yesterday Posted: 18 November 2005 at 7:40am |
Hello
was wondering if anyone has had any bleeding at this stage of pregnancy??Yesterday I had a Nuecal Translucancy Ultrasound(sorry for the spelling)Thats a scan to check for Downs Syndrome(they say its routine now)And everything looked great with the baby, but then at 8.30 last night I went to the toilet and noticed I was bleeding.Needless to say I panicked Went to the emergency doctor and she checked for a heartbeat, thank god she found it!! This is my 3rd child and have never had this before but the doctor says as long as it wasnt alot of blood that I am ok,just need to rest alot which I have been doing heaps lately. The bleeding has stopped now but I am too scared to cough etc at the moment Any reassuring words would be really great about now. Thanks in advance

I know Roksana had a lot of bleeding during the earlier stages of her pregnancy and she has just had a little girl!
I only had one bleed when I was about 10 weeks along but Joey is perfectly healthy and the rest of the pregnancy was a dream!
I know how scared you must be but you did the right thing getting it checked out. Get in touch with your midwife if you are still really worried for another check up and just relax. Look after yourself and I am sure everything will be fine.

Yes. about 10 weeks looking back I had a huge bleed. It bled through on to the chair i was sitting....ick! Anyway, at that time I didn't know i was pregnant and thought it was a weird period (never got a period between my son and new pregnancy). Well, finally went to the doctor when it become a little clearer that I was either preggers or sick, and told doctor about bleed. He said (possibly - it was in japanese and my translation skills are shaky) it is quite common, and while it CAN idnicate miscarriage and other problems, it doesn't necessarily do so. I am now...32 (?) weeks pregnant and everything is going fine. BTW never had any other bleeding, or problems since

I bled quite a bit with Josiah, from 6 weeks on and off until about 25 weeks. As far as we can tell, for me the bleeding was probably hormonal and completely unrelated to the pregnancy - other than I'd come off the pill that was regulating my hormones slightly!
Talk to your doctor, talk to your midwife. If it happens again, then see what else is going on. My doctor told me that 25% of women bleed during pregnancy, but if you carry past 12 weeks then there is a 95% chance the pregnancy will be fine, and if they can get a heartbeat at any stage, then there is a 97% chance the pregnancy will go full term.

Hi, I had a bleed at 6 weeks then at 7 weeks, then at 9 weeks, then at 15 weeks. I have had five ultrasounds now and only got explanations for two of the bleeds the others were unexplained as they often are. At the 9 week scan I was told that the placenta had torn away slighty form the wall of my uterus. This often heals itself but I was told I needed to rest. Then at 15 weeks I had another bleed and was told I may have placenta previa where the placenta is over or near the cervix. This to can heal itself when the uterus stretches and the placenta moves up with the growth.
I am now 17 weeks pregnant and everything is going great I am not lifting anything and am taking it fairly easy at work. The main reason I wanted to reply to you was because I know how scary it is to bleed while pregnant. But it doesn't mean something terrible is going to happen and I have learn't that bleeding is actually very common in pregnancyt and can be caused by something as simple as sex or the placenta bursting a blood vessel in the uterus (I wish I had known this the first two bleeds as I was panicked). Even though it can be common and harmless you always need to go to the doctor so they can see whats going on and prescribe an ultrasound and rest if needed. I hope your bleeding stops and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy without to much worry.

Hi again.Just wanted to thank you all for reassuring me Today so far the bleeding has stopped. Was just spotting yesterday. The doctor did ask if it could've been caused by sex told her that was impossible as my hubby is too chicken to go there
Thank you again everyone Glad you were here to talk to.

I've been told that a little bleeding is ok and that some women have it all though their pregnancy.

I also had a bit of bleeding at about 12 weeks and after already having one m/c I freaked but all was normal I was told by my m/wife that it usually happens.

I've had a bit of bleeding occasionally, but no cramps or anything with it. Apparently some of us are just 'lucky' and will have a bit here and there......

I dreamed of "here and there"! I bled for 3 weeks straight, starting the day after I found out I was pregnant with Josiah! I had a week off, then bled for another 2 weeks. I then bled for between 2 days and 2 weeks on and off until I was around 25 weeks.

Hi girls well I had another bleed as well. I was sitting on the couch and I thought I had wet myself but it was blood, very scary went to the hospital and they kept me in overnight and gave me a proper scan the next day and they say I have placenta previa or low lying placenta so now I am on full on rest.
Hope you all say bleed free!

Aw that must be horrible guys. Hope everything sorts itself out and there are no more bleeding episodes.
Watched Six Feet Under last night and Brenda lost her baby. I was so sad. I can't even imagine what that must be like! Let alone being frightened of it time and time again

Lilypie, scary as the bleeding can be, at least they seem to know whats causing it. This means they know what to do to prevent more or uncontrollable bleeds happening. and that is a good thing!
