Just wondering what others are planning on doing or have done for a baby shower, and what sorts of things you got or asked for.

Mine was just a whole lot of my friends who came around to eat food! hehe
I did want to say that for people buying clothes that they should consider what age baby will be at what season. I got quite a few gifts of clothes which were lovely and summery but didn't fit her until winter. It was a real shame. So yeah, advise your friends about that in case they are planning to buy clothes!

Well I was happy and disappointed with the baby shower I had, My partner's family organised it for it to be in Hamilton (mine are in Palmy) - it was a surprise for me (didn't know it was happening). I had only met Davids family a few times and they invited THEIR family and friends who I didn't know at all!!
I felt robbed that "my" day was taken away from the people that I loved and wanted to share it with...
Anyway the good thing was that my partner proposed to me!! But the downside to that was that I didn't know anyone there... Ahhh well you can't always have the things you want.
But if I did it again I would invite all my girlfriends and just have drinks and nibbles and pressy wise either ask them to buy clothes for the age in season (if one in summer buy size one summer suits etc) or buy vouchers for you / toys.
Most of the presents we got came with an exchange card so we sat down and sorted out what would be out of season when Arna was that size and just got the bigger / smaller size.
Hope this helps

I got a wonderful pressie, a few friends went in and bought me a carseat, a birth to 18kg one. I found lots of people gave outfits, but nothing in newborn. We didn't know what we were having, so I guess that made it hard, but some of the few newborn things we got were those nighties that tie at the bottom, AWESOME for middle of the night nappy changes and good for girls or boys. Good advise for getting tis seasons clothes in next years sizes, I wish I had had the forsight to suggest tht one!

All i know is that my girlfriend is organising my baby shower, for sometime in feb, but because its coming up to xmas and new years she just wants a heads up on what sorts of things to do etc.
I have said to her that we can have it at my mums as she has a huge deck and bbq area, and once the baby shower is finished all the guys can come over for a bbq and a bit of a party.
I have made a list of stuff that i need and when it came to baby clothing i have actually asked for 3mths plus as i have heaps of new born stuff that was just given to me.
Oh this is exciting

Sounds like great ideas for both!
We had a "sweepstake" where everyone guessed the sex, time and weight, and the closest got a bottle of wine. Was interesting to see what everyone thought (all thought I was huge, obviously as they all guessed over 8 pounds...)

I had mine yesterday which was great. I got clothes for the baby and two playmats which are both different so will be able to use both. I was asked if I wanted money or presents so went for the presents.
My friend's maid (oh the Saudi life!!) made delicious food and we had a couple of beauty therapists come who did manicures and pedicures for anyone who wanted them.

mmm it sounds good aye.. i think that's the BEST idea - having something like that for mum when her baby is about 2 weeks old and she is frazzled and tired.
Hey, has anyone heard from Roksana.. am so hanging out to hear how she is doing, hope its all going well

I always feel sad when people have their babies and no longer have time to waste on message boards.
I miss them
