im 11 weeks pregnant and my ears are constantly popping in and out, even when I am talking. It is SO FRUSTRATING and driving me absolutly barmy. Is this a pregnancy thing or just me? |

my ears and nose have been just about permanently blocked since i was preggy! a bit better now than the first trimester tho.
Apparently it can be because the hormones cause your blood vessels to dilate, making smaller "channels" in your nose and ears... plus your mucus production can increase quite a lot which makes the smaller gaps easier to block. Heaps of people get blocked ears and noses when preggy, but not everyone does... just one of those things I guess!

If your ears are sore though, go to your Dr and get them checked out...

I haven't had a problem with my ears but definately stuffy nose since about 12 weeks, which has caused a bit of snoring - poor DH! |

Hi, I had the same at about 9 weeks...  I actually ruptured my eardrum blowing my nose, and was told it was because of the reason Janey77 has said.  So be careful if you blow your nose to try and stop the crackling.  The ruptured eardrum casued all sorts of additional dilemmas, vertigo, ear infections it was horrible. |

I just found this thread, and Im having that problem in one ear! Its like some is tapping my eardrum or like its twitching, its so weird and real annoying, could it be to do with pregnancy and having a stuffy nose a lot?

Me too! I had it lots at the start of pregnancy and again now in the last trimester. Constant congestion and I'm constantly clearing my ears also.
Just as well it's not safe to go scuba diving when pregnant

I thought that was just me but maybe it is a pregnancy thing. Should put that in the book with all the others. |

This is really interesting. I hadn't heard of such a thing. I suppose I will start imagining my ears popping from now on (I always read too much into everything!)

   hah mountaingoat, i'm the same!
My ears have been really sore lately. I have been having problems with them the last few years and even had a grommet put in one a year ago and since then they'd been fine. But lately, not so much. I don't think there is much you can do about it unfortunately as it sounds like it is one of those things us pregnant ladies sometimes have to put up with. Luckily we get something for it at the end!!!
