Topic: Spilly Baby With Rash Posted: 03 December 2007 at 3:37pm |
Samara is a really spilly baby - basically can't be without a bib on. Because she spills so much she has a big red rash on her neck and some of her chest. I use Silly Billyz bibs but she still gets wet. I've tried using two of them but she still gets wet.
Has anyone got any ideas to stop her neck and chest getting wet?

Benjy was a very dribbly pukey baby and was always wet down his front.
I slathered his chin and neck with zinc and castor oil cream as a barrier and used bandanna bibs to keep him dry.
The bandanna ones last heaps longer than silly billyz and are pretty darn cute too!
I bought mine on TradeMe for about $5 each. Well worth the investment!

This is the seller that I got our ones off. She doesn't have any bandanna ones listed at the moment but she will make them to order if you ask her, and the ones she does have listed are the same waterproof fleece backing as the bandanna ones I got.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your replies.
I'll give the castor and zinc cream a try first and see how that goes.
Sparkle - I'm keen for a catch up this week or next week if you're free.

Mine is the dribbler from 'Nam (still is) and had reflux so was mighty spilly too. I found the Silly Billyz bibs still got soaked through, and the only ones that work on her are rubber-backed ones (the rubber is melted on to the back of the fabric, so it's not 2 separate layers like most bibs - you'll know what I mean if you see them, those rather cheap bibs in the warehouse are the best!). Look for white rubber backing, and towelling-like fabric on the front (it tends to absorb stuff really quickly, rather than let it run down the bib like I found a lot of others did). With Ella, I use bibs with ties instead of velcro, as I can tie them up to sit quite snugly on her to stop everything running under the bib, so that keeps her chest dry. Now I only bother buying the Warehouse ones - they're just over $1 each and work really well! And the backing on them doesn't eventually rip up in the wash like plastic backing tends to do over time.
