Topic: Why do I feel so sick? Posted: 09 December 2007 at 3:45pm |
I was doing heaps better today. 2nd day of the pill, didn't need nurofen and pandol until lunchtime. But when I did, the pain (endo) came on very quickly and I started feeling nauseous as well - after taking nurofen. Now I've had a long sleep, the pain is gone but the nausea is still there - aggrevated by doing too much (ie walking!) or eating
What's the cause? I thought the endo pain was causing it. Now I don't know whether to blame the nurofen, the endo, or the pill (estelle)

It could be the pill as they can upset your system especially as it is only the 2nd day that you are on it. It could also be the nurofen, I generally don't take any anti inflammatories cos they make me nauseous.
Although panadol is less affective with period type pain than nurofen I would try taking that so that you can eliminate the nurofen as the cause as that is the easiest one to cut out. I would give it a month on the pill to see if it works and if still feeling sick switch to another one, it can sometimes take a few different ones till you find one that suits.

You really need to give your body a chance to adjust to it, although having said that if it gets really unbearable just stop, if you are still throwing up in a couple of days I would bin them.
Are you normally ok taking nurofen?

hey you mentioned a while back about fibroids....it sounds like what i had - and we thought was bubba at times and it turned out to be the fibroid dying on inside causing the pain etc like you are talking about? maybe an ultrasound would assist???

I'm having a scan on Wednesday BS. The doc (I've seen two) thinks it doesn't feel/seem like fibroids but that it sounds like endo. They haven't been able to feel fibroids, cysts etc but the scan on Wednesday will (hopefully) rule them out.
In the meantime I've been put on the pill to regulate the endo symptoms (ie pain) but what a rotten day! I'm only just feeling ok for the first time since 11.45
Cuppatea, I'm usually ok with nurofen although I have been taking more of it in the last few days than before. I suspect it's the pill, will chat with the nurse tomorrow - I think that's the best way ahead.

Ooh I hope this gets sorted for you real quick! Nurofen is not kind on the stomach, that's why people with stomach ulcers can't touch the stuff, so I'd wonder if it was that making you feel nauseous...
but then again, it can take a month or 2 to settle into the pill. I hope the nurse has some good advice tomorrow

Thanks Andie. Did you see how quick I exited today??? I was starting to feel yuck and half-way home was nauseous already. Got home, left the kids with DH and went straight to bed for 1/2 hour
