Arabella stands when she pulls on my fingers (Instead of bending to pull herself up to sit she stays stiff and pulls up onto her feet. and seems to balance and hold herself up quite well. I was wondering if it is ok to let her do this? It's not going to put any undue strain on her legs.

i don't know if it's okay, but I know both my boys did something similar. i figure if it was a strain, they wouldn't do it!

LOL, Sam has done this since birth! She will just not bend in the middle and always prefers to be standing if at all possible! We have had numerous comments from health professional at the state of her Abs

I double checked with Plunket/ M/wife and the doctors and they said this was just fine. Some kids just prefer to stand!

the only way we could ever get charli to bend to sit was to gently push her tummy otherwise she'd just stand all the time

My Hayley does this as well. She likes standing if you hold her. She also does the same thing as Keziah with bending her knees and pushing up.

Same here, good question BabyonBoard - i too was wondering if it would be good for their legs or not!

Funny, i thought it was just my girl with monster abs - hehe!

Heheh Ollie does the same - except he loves to bounce once he is standing. He loves his jolly jumper - I was worried he was too little for it...but he seems fine in it!

SimSam - you just reminded me that I had a Jolly Jumper but I haven't tried it yet (have to figure on where to put it). I'm going to try it out hopefully this week and see how Hayley goes in it.
She is getting a bit cocky now and is pulling herself up if slightly leaning back (I have to agree that they have super strong abs....wish I did)
